[Click link above for the complete Capital Times newspaper article.]THE SEARCH for an official Madison song has ended, as so many things in Madison seemingly must, with a whimper.Last week the commission assigned by Mayor Dave Cieslewicz to recommend an official song to the City Council effectively threw in the towel.I will get to the details momentarily -- they recommended a bunch of songs instead of just one -- but first let me say that anyone who has watched the decision-making process in any number of Madison endeavors over the years will not be surprised by the lack of a satisfactory resolution in the song search.It is the Madison Way. But as an old movie buff and fan of 11th hour heroics, I am not ready to admit defeat just yet. There is still a chance for the City Council to designate one song -- the right song -- as Madison's official song, here in this year of our sesquicentennial.To quickly recap, this all started in the spring of 2005 when Mayor Cieslewicz was on the Triple M radio morning show with hosts Jonathan Suttin and Kitty Dunn. ...
