The Cave in Benson

KAVV Benson doesn't get much attention on these boards, but since I had an opportunity to listen to the station on my travels to Benson I wanted to let Mr. Lotsof know that I enjoy hearing the older country music. Driving down I-10 I got to hear Cal Smith "It's Time To Pay The Fiddler", great country classic.
It's also nice that you have local talent live during your daytime hours. Too bad you don't stream on the web, then I could listen here in Tucson. One of the biggest negative factors I felt was the constant segs on the music. I can hear that on my Ipod. It would be nice to hear the jock at least back-sell some of the music and talk more often. I heard a female during the midday shift, but never heard her give her name in the few times she talked.
Anyway, congratulations Paul. You've kept "The Cave" on the air for almost 30 years now. Too bad you could only get a Class A permit. For those of you in Tucson that haven't had a chance to listen, "The Cave" is at 97.7 mhz with a very fringe eastside or high altitude reception in the Tucson area.Their website is http://www.cavefm.com.

What I'd like to know is how a station in tiny Benson can have live air talent all day long and well into the evening, while the stations in Tucson are laying off people right and left.

Ditto with Green Valley/Sahuarita (KGVY). The last outposts of real local radio.
