The CBS 2025-2026 season thread

How was Rescue Hi-Surf? Decided to take a pass on it as it sounds like a mashup of 9-1-1 and Baywatch, and I’m burning out on the 9-1-1 type shows.

I liked Rescue Hi-Surf was a pretty good show I'm going to keep watching it I'll watch it later this week as the Lions are on MNF tomorrow.

And I saw that CBS did put The Matlock plot OnDemand so I watched that on Thur night.

Almost as though ABC said you took the American Music Awards away from us after 50 years so we will steal the Grammy’s from you.
The Grammys was originally on ABC for the 1971 and 1972 broadcast until CBS took the rights that lead to ABC and Dick Clark to form the AMAs in 1973, so this is a return of sorts. 2027 is expected to be a winner for ABC with the Super Bowl, Grammys, and Oscars being close to each other with assistance from Hulu and Disney+ adding Grammy-related programming.

Several of the Universal produced shows on CBS are in jeopardy of not getting renewed and looking likely to go the way of East New York, So Help Me Todd, NCIS Hawaii etc. you know successful shows that got canned because of no room on the schedule.

Shows on the bubble include The Equalizer, a couple of those FBI spin-offs, The Neighborhood, and yes once again for a 3rd year in a row, SWAT:

And yet they ordered a few back door spin-off pilots from the bubble shows. Guess we’ll see how this plays out.

Indeed. CBS was adamant about making sure Blue Bloods was finito, yet here they are announcing a cumbersome spinoff with a cumbersome Wahlberg at the helm.

A spinoff after a parent show has run its course has happened plenty of times. Transport a character somewhere new as the main show reaches its final destination.

I seem to recall that might have worked out well after Cheers ended.

And not so well after Friends ended.
