The Character Actor Hall of Fame

McGiver was one of those actors that was literally everywhere in the 1960s. He was American, not British (see also: Jonathan "Dr. Smith" Harris, who also adopted a quasi-British accent).

But as far as my favorite character actors, my first vote goes to the late, great Bernard Fox. He's best known as Dr. Bombay on Bewitched and Col. Crittenden on Hogan's Heroes, but he was another one who was just about everywhere for close to 50 years. He was the last surviving adult actor on Bewitched, and only Robert Clary and Kenneth Washington survived him from Hogan's Heroes (both are still living AFAIK), and died 4 years ago at age 89.

There will be many others as I (and others) think of them.
