The "Charlie's Angels" Thread

Does anyone think this version has a chance (In hell) of succeeding? I don't

Thoughts?

Cheers & 73 :D

When I first heard about the new show I said "if they use the same 'Charlie' voice (originally John Forsythe) the show is nothing but a copycat and will die quickly". They apparently did and it will.

If they give it the same update they gave 5-O it might have a chance, a balance of drama & humor would bring in a new crowd.

So if it come up on ABC VOD I'll definitely give it a try. :)

If my memory serves me correctly, the original Charlie's Angels involved three policewomen who were getting less-than-attractive beats in their respective cities. I think this version focuses on three bad eggs who suddenly find redemption as detectives for Charlie. Not quite the 5-0 update (including a Wo Fat who hardly makes one remember the original overweight fellow in the version one still sees on MeTV), but it could work.

I didn't see the modern updated movie! ??? Was I supposed to see that first before watching this new tv version?

This sounds like a combination of The Rookies and the original Charlie's Angels.

First they bring back Five-O, and now this. They are really, truly, utterly out of ideas.

That being said, never underestimate the potential for beautiful women, scantily clad, to draw an audience.

I recently watched one of the original series episodes in HD. It was one of the later ones with
Cheryl Ladd and Tanya Roberts joining Jaclyn Smith. I have to admit...they were likely the three
prettiest women we've ever put on film together.

I wish now I could go back and watch the old ones. I never was interested but I've always liked Kate Jackson in movies. And I regret not watching "Scarecrow and Mrs. King". I will give this one a shot. Minka Kelly was so good and so good-looking in "Friday Night Lights" and "Parenthood".

The original was an unabashed participant in the Jiggle TV era.
They cannot get away with that anymore. These will be tough, butt-kicking
ladies in an action series. Problem is there are already a lot of shows like that.

Yep, except the Tanya Roberts character was the only one never a police woman.

Universal HD airs the original episodes

I didn't like it until Minka showed up. But she's not only gorgeous, she has a great personality too.

It seems to always be true that when the camera lingers on a car like that it blows up. When I saw that I thought, "They're going to blow it up."

Farrah was on two episodes of "I Dream of Jeannie" from back before "Charlie's Angels". I didn't recognize her until the credits but she was the prettiest woman they have had on the episodes I've seen so far. She was also quite dumb.
