The Christmas Music Impact!!!!

Im sure alot of us were surprised by the rise of Jack in the ratings race for this book..And lets not forget the rise of WHTT!!!

To me the more interesting book should be this holiday season when Star and Joy start up the 5th annual Jingle wars!! For those traditional listeners of these 2 stations that dont want to hear Rudolph all day long, they have 2 alternatives this year....

Jack and WHTT anyone?????

It would seem that the Star listeners could jet to Jack, while the joy listeners could wheel over to HTT!! If this happens (And Im not saying it will) but if it does it could cuase for some interesting numbers this holiday season..

How do the rest of you feel about this?

Could we see Star maybe not go 24/7 Holiday (Even though they will)..

Does anyone see any more tweaking or possible format flips coming in the new year to the queen city???

Between WJYE and WTSS, one of the two may try to gradually add the Christmas music in, rather than just dive right into the all Christmas format, but that's just my guess.

I also duely note that, depending on demand for the format, the two may not be a threat to each other, as Star may find slightly heavier, but still Christmas friendly tunes than WJYE. (Heck, I could be wrong about that too though.)
______________

Refering to *A* Jack Fm you're aware of, or An Infinity Jack that actually did just that...went all Christmas, playing the Christmas tunes they want...as early as the day after thanksgiving?
______________

No, this was just my sick imagination-- "A JACK Xmas" from Turkey Day forward. Considering JACK in this market is Infinity owned and JYE goes nuts for Xmas, what's to stop JACK from following suit?

This sparks the idea that they can even kick stern off early if they want...it's only a few months off...how much would it cost?

If they can eliminate stern, that's the better ALL Christmas idea, so that advertisers who want to advertise Christmas related stuff durring the morning time slot, can do so much easier.

The problem in the meantime, is selling Christmas spots, while having to tell the clients that they have to work around stern...how much of a problem/not problem is this?
______________

Let's think about this for a moment

Why would Infinity dilute the numbers they get with Christmas music on WJYE in order to support Jack, which has its best ratings in a decade?

If you want a real possibility, consider that idea that Star may try to beat WJYE to the Christmas Punch. Star just got pummeled, and needs a boost. Christmas music might get them on the dial at a bunch of local stores and offices, and help them recover. Right now, they're getting undercut by their teammates at Kiss, and battered by Jack.

Re: Let's think about this for a moment

Correct.
What I could see hapening, perhaps, would be a voice over on jack saying "We play what we want...right now we want to play a christmas tune"
but not likely...now that I think of it, there's a chance that Jack will have fun playing what they want by adding in some parody carols to the regular music sets.
______________
