The Citadel Massacre - will it come to Charleston?

...and if it does, who are the likely cuts?

It's so funny: programmers succeed and get fired; Farid fails and gets paid 17 million. Go figure.

With Clear Channel, CBS, and now Citadel firing everyone in sight I think it is time to be really worried about Radio.
Soon there will not be enough people left to voice track.

I heard the Citadel cutbacks were major markets only? Citadel just did some shuffling in Charleston recently so i don't see them being affected as of now.

From what som eother industry commentators have said, Charleston and Columbia are among Citadel' smore profitable markets and could possibly be sold to reduce corporate debt. However, you never know what the suits will do in the interim. Certainly, if Citadel is in the cut costs at all costs, then the comparatively staff-heavy Columbia and Citadel clusters could be in the gunsights. Of course, by 1980's standards, the Citadel Columbia cluster is actually very thin on the ground...

Steve, damnit, your analysis is always so thorough and well thought out that it makes my head hurt. You need to take your brain to a secluded tropical island with many scantily clad women and take a vacation. I think I need to go, too. Just because, um, well, just because my head hurts.

I figured I would update this thread a bit with something back on topic a bit.

Just yesterday, Citadel made major changes in Providence as part of their "restructuring," so that likelihood of changes being made for fiscal reasons in other markets has risen somewhat.

Don't ever fall for that old line. As a former Citadelian I can attest to the fact that they are never satisfied. What is new today is old tomorrow in their eyes. They say that people are their most important asset but in reality money always wins and when money gets tight they will toss their own young under the bus if necessary!
