The closest thing to Standards gone after 12/25

That has to be Sunny, listening to them since they first went all Christmas is like having WPEN back, sort of, when they were Standards. To hear all the Standard artists doing Christmas tunes, the great voices of Amy Grant and Carla Bonoff, the funny Hippo song, the tear jerker Christmas shoes, great instrumentals, singers, Beach music, Soul, what more can anyone ask for. If the B wins out, I don't buy it, and its not the music but the Philadelphia listeners stubborn, accept no change, comfortable with this status attitude. Sunny is on in most places I visit, the little I heard of the B is a waste, they are dry, repititious and too Philly, whereas Sunny opened up the playlist to include all the great music of the past 50 years. The other question I have, is when WPEN was at their peak, they tied WOGL in the ratings, and this was on an AM signal with a more loyal audiance than WOGL. So why, is WPEN(more variety) gone and WOGL(less variety), still around with their repititious playlist and aging audiance?? My Sunny rant is done for the season, I know you are all glad of that.

Calm down everyone...I'll answer the question for you....IT'S BECAUSE MOST SPONSORS AREN'T INTERESTED IN OLDER DEMOGRAPHICS. I.E. No sponsors, no revenue.

That is why WOGL changes with the times. If they used the same playlist they did in the late 80's, they too would have problems obtaining sponsors.

I know that only a few years ago, Street Corner Sunday was one of the highest shows on WOGL ratings wise, but they can't SELL it 24/7, so it is buried on Sunday evenings when MOST people aren't listening to the radio.

Are you for real?

Yeah, the sponsors arent interested in us old folks, because they think we're set in our ways and go on buying the same stuff, the same brands, like forever. If that's so, how come so many of us are tossing our terrestrial radio listening out the window, and buying XM radios so we can listen to our old f**t music not available on terrestrial broadcast? And I suspect the advertising suits believe nobody over 35 has ever bought a satellite dish, a cell phone, or a computer as well!
