Doubt it. WEBE has a much more powerful signal, and more importantly, instant name recognition.

I think If I had to choose what is the strongest signal in New Haven CT on the whole entire radio band through the Wilber Cross Tunnel I would have to choose WEBE 108...

A smart call by Cox to at least try and steal some listeners from WEBE in the Stamford area.. thus helping Star 99.9 but it doesn't really matter due to the infiltration of NYC stations (Lite,Fresh) in the Stamford market.

What ever happened to WCTZ moving their transmitter to Yonkers? Is that not happening now?

They have until 2012 to build it, so there is plenty of time still.

Could they move their transmitter to Staten Island? They will be less short spaced to WTIC, the same short spacing to 96.3 and 97.1, and cover more of New York City. Plus it would have the added benefit of forcing the pirates on 96.7 off the air.

staten Island would not be a bad Idea for them due to the nearby terrain being Flat IE lots of Coastline IMO

96.7 lost the transmitter site they wanted to move to in Yonkers......It would great to get them on the Armstrong tower in Alpine, NJ but from there they won't be able to get a strong enough signal to Port Chester (their COL).
