"The Color Honeymooners"

G

Great One

Guest
Anyone know if any network plans or is currently running "The Color Honeymooners?" They were on Goodlife network and have changed their name to something else again. I know their available on Amazon.com but I'd love to see them on TV again. Great family entertainment.
A natural for ME-TV.

Thanks for your help..

The black and white shows are a lot better. The color shows waste too much time with unnecessary music and rehashed routines from the black and white shows.

I never liked the color episodes and apparently neither did Jackie. Too much singing & dancing. Back in the early 80's, about the time he released the"lost" episodes, he said he was trying to put together a movie. Maybe for theatres or TV. He was going to use the cast with Audry Meadows as Alice. His idea of the basic plot was for Ralph, Alice, Norton & Trixie to be retired and relocated to condo's in Florida. Sadly it never happened.

The only thing close to a Honeymooners film was an all-black 2005 production, starring Cedric the Entertainer as Ralph. The film was poorly-received, both by reviewers and the box office:

Don't make the mistake of thinking you're brilliant enough to improve a classic by turning a 15/30 minute laugh riot into a cinematic version of waterboarding. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Anyone notice that every big screen adaptation of a TV show, or even an 8 minute cartoon, follows the same storyline:

the main character, usually depicted as a clueless, bumbling schmuck, ends up saving the day by unwittingly discovering some evildoer who plans to wreak havoc upon the denizens of the particular community; and, in a completely improbable way, foils the insidious plans and aforementioned nogoodnik, thus becoming a hero. He's still a clueless, bumbling schmuck, though.

It's just a matter of time until the talentless clods in Hollywood turn the old Charmin commercials into "The Misadventures of Mr. Whipple".

The Color Honeymooners was the first introduction I had to the Kramdens and the Nortons, since I was too young at first to be able to catch the 50s version of the show late at night. Once I had the chance to experience the B&W version, I thought it was superior and still do.

I haven't seen these since they originally aired, so maybe I'd feel differently, but my 12 year old self agrees with you and realjm12. Having seen the reruns when I was a young kid, I was excited that The Honeymooners was back, then disappointed with the new "color" shows. IMO, the musical numbers really threw the pacing off, and made it less entertaining for me.
