The curse of Dave Lapham

Would someone PLEASE tell Dave Lapham, Bengals color analyst, to stop cursing during the games? I listen to tons of college and NFL games and I have never heard another announcer cursing. Dave acts like 9 year old who's just discovered that dropping a curse word into a conversation will get a rise out of some people. Hey Dave: Man up, grow up and clean up your act! True sports professionals aren't potty-mouths!

I've never heard any cursing by him over the air, but for years, Lapham has broken one of the cardinal rules by cutting off, yelling over, etc. the person doing the play-by-play. Not that such a thing can't happen from time to time in an exciting moment, but his is from the start to finish of a game. For those who might say this is just how he operates, I've heard Lapham do some college games on TV and there is none of that. Certainly, he knows a great deal about football and certainly seems to have the backing of the Bengals' ownership, but what comes across the air with that silly, non-professional ranting and raving doesn't speak well for that team.

I am so glad I'm not the only Bengals fan who feels this way. Lapham is a top-notch analyst ... except when he does Bengals games. Great on the high school games when FS Ohio aired them, great on the Big 12 games then he feels like he has to go all homer. I used to listen to the Bengals radio broadcasts all the time (and would mute the TV), but I stopped that a while ago. Just bothers me too much.
