Let this be a lesson, if you're close, personal friends with the DUI Dog and he constantly defends you on-air from angry callers, you will fail and you will get fired.

Rick Tocchet, Raheem Morris, Skip Holtz, the black guy who coached the Devil Rays, Guy Bouchet, even former Magic coach Johnny Davis received occasional praise from Steve on the ultra-rare occasions the Magic were mentioned.

The only coaches who have succeeded and thrived in this market are ones who did not allow Duemig to become "buddy-buddy" with them: Gruden, Dungy, and Madden.

The "black guy who coached the Devil Rays" was Hal McRae. He was a hell of a manager and player, but never had a real chance to succeed with the Naimoli-era Devil Rays.

More egg on the face of Stevie as another one of "his guys" ends up on the unemployment line and Steve looks like an idiot for confidantly predicting that Yzerman would not fire Guy.

Not exactly the best week for the Big Dog, between this and his contract problems.

I like how every time one of "his guys" gets fired, he claims that he'll never talk about the team again. So I guess we'll just do Rays and Bucs talk from here on out. Maybe Steve can actually devote some time to the Tampa Yankees or Dunedin Blue Jays, or Manatee Everblades now that he's abandoned three of the local teams (Magic, Bulls, Lightning).

Nobody in any city with major league teams talks about minor league teams.

Anywhere.

Ever.

In Miami they talk about the Marlins.....sometimes.....so, minor league teams ARE discussed! :p

If you think Duemig was buddy buddy with Gruden, you simply never listened to his show, point blank. End of story. He was never a Gruden fan or apologist.

Same thing with Dungy, he was on Dungy's ass all the time, both him and Chris Thomas. I dont know why he defended Raheem Morris, he was completely in over his head.

Also, he takes his fair share of shots at Joe Madden.

Do you ever listen to Duemig? Based on your little knowledge of his shows, I am guessing no... axe to grind maybe?

Axe to grind perhaps, but he said Gruden, Dungy, and Madden are the only ones who were NOT buddy buddy with him

I figure he defended Morris because Morris was friendly with Deumig, in that he would do interviews and call-ins, and sit with him for an hour every day during training camp. Gruden wouldn't even do a call-in with Deumig
