The CW hooking up with MySpace

Normally this wouldn't warrant mention in here, but MySpace is owned by News Corp. and is known to be being considered as a promotional vehicle for its MyNetworkTV service, with the very name arguably inspired by MySpace.

So now here it is getting cuddly with MyNet's ostensible rival.

Wonder what sort of thoughts were running through the boardroom leading up to THIS decision...

Hi everyone:

Elementary my Dear Watson.... :)

MySpace happens to be one of the most popular websites on the 'net among us "Average Joes". The fact that it's owned by News Corp. is really irrelevant when you consider the $$$ that site brings in for the FOX Network.

Bottom line...It's not all that hard to figure out why The CW wants to seek space on MySpace to promote their shows.

That said though, I can also see CBS & Time Warner either A). Starting up a rival service or B). Buying one of the current rival services for the very same reason they're seeking space on MySpace in the not-to-distant future.

Just my opinion :D

Cheers :)

I know why *The CW* wants to be on MySpace. The question at hand is this:
Why would MySpace owners News Corp, who also own MyNetwork, allow The CW to be promoted on MySpace?

My hypothesis is that The CW was willing to pay cash, and money won out over corporate synergy. Plus I doubt this is exclusive, so MyNTV could still _also_ be promoted on MySpace, more than likely.
