WCTX-TV is dead in the water when it comes to Hartford/New Haven. This UPN affiliate on channel 59 airs a 10 PM newscast produced by "sister" station WTNH-TV (ABC) channel 8 of New Haven. They already lose out in the ratings to the "FOX 61 News At Ten" on Tribune-owned WTIC-TV (FOX) channel 61 of Hartford. It's funny how this station just changed their on-air identity to "UPN 9" a few months ago ("9" referring to their cable postion in most cities).<P ID="signature">______________

My guess is that the larger markets will keep their local newscasts on both CW and the indy.

Here in Tampa, Sinclair owned WB38 (WTTA) is in bad shape with their 10pm Newscentral newscast going up against powerful Fox O&O WTVT at 10 pm. WTTA barely gets a 1 rating. They are down to only 6 local newsroom employees. I doubt they'll be around much longer.
