Hey before Liberman got a hold of KZZA I think the station had a nice niche in the market. True Latino, but for 2nd and 3rd generation Hispanics. After the sale went thru I was sure there was gonna be problems because the format is not a Liberman staple. I'm amazed it's lasted this long and hasn't been changed to something that Liberman is a little more comfortable with.
Now days it's hard to work for any large company in radio because the cluster far outweighs the needs of any single station, which leads to less competition and more decisions based on the good of the whole. Lame, bland, I won't play this song if you won't play that, SAFE Radio.
At least I'm doing something that is different for me. Ask me 10 years ago if I thought I would be speaking 40% spanish on the radio and I would've laughed. You do what you do to stay ahead or with the curve. After 25 plus years in the biz it's fun to do something challenging
