The Daily 11 at 7pm

I was not aware of the recent re-branding of Brenda Wood's Evening News at 7pm on WXIA. They're streaming her newscast online at 11Alive. It looks like a "Countdown" type broadcast, looking at the 11 stories that her producers think we might care about.

I'm glad they chose to rename it. The Evening News title was already taken by CBS...plus, that broadcast was pretty boring. Gimmicks always make things better! ::)

Any thoughts, anyone?

EDIT: They seem to be using the blue version of the Gannett graphics package, which is so much better than their regular red version. I don't recognize the music...

11 Alive News in my opinion sucks. The newscast are fewer than what they did have. They got rid of the weekend morning news and that annoying rundown menu on the side screen.

I haven't seen the new changes, but I liked the menu on the side of the screen. A guide as to what is coming up. Unlike WSB who says THAT STORY WILL BE UP NEXT.................then they show it 20 minutes later.

The menu must be in use on most or all Gannett stations; WFMY
Greensboro has it, and it is helpful in that you can calculate
(roughly) how long before something you want to see comes
up.

Those that watch ESPN are use to the rundown menu. I happen to like it as bpatrick says 'you know how long before something comes on that you want to see' so if you are busy doing something else you aren't waiting around.

The rundown is still on. During the 11 at 7, it is a smaller version to the left of the 11 Alive HD bug, right above the live chat ticker. All other newscasts still have the rundown consume the entire right-hand side of the screen.

The "menu" is alive and well at KPNX in Phoenix. :D

They even use it on the tired, stale weekend am newscast. Perhaps Atlantans ought to be thankful that 11Alive eliminated their weekend morning newscast.

I think the first TV station to use a "rundown" in their news broadcasts was WWOR/New York; only, it would be a text rundown shown on the screen going into commercials.
