This is indeed a pitty. It seems that once again, a public radio station has swallowed up an independent college/community radio voice. It's almost as if we're experiencing a "second wave" of public radio encroachment onto the college radio scene. I was not around in the 70s when so many college stations were snatched up by NPR and the like, but I can imagine alot of progressive voices were snuffed out by the takeovers. Now, in the 21st century, it's happening again. One can't help but wonder how many more colleges will "sell out" to NPR stations in their communities. I guess there is one bit of saving grace here. If a college station has to sell out, at least they are not selling out to K-Love, CSN, and the like.

That really sucks that they're going from local college programming to NPR. Out of everything on CT. Public Radio, one of the many NPR affiliates in the state, I only listen 2 hours per week. I think listening 2 hours a week isn't enuff to warrant a Donation to the station. I listen to Car Talk which comes from NPR and The Food Schmooze with Faith Middletown, which is a local show on CT. Public Radio. I don't like NPR News. I don't like any other programming on NPR. And I don't like the classical music CT. Public Radio Plays. I prefer the classical music played on local station WTMI AM 1290 instead which is a commercial operation called Beethoven.Com
