romano was in pittsburgh and the talk was making wwdg a classic country format in order to play blocker to wscp. cc isnt happy with whats going on in the market and is scared that another country station could hurt wbbs. if clear channel owns two then nobody will think to take them on head to head. there is also a potential of hurting wqny and making in roads into ithaca since the wwdg stick could do better in that area since its heard better in that area.

Two reasonably articulate posts.

I was thinking posters O-D'd on tryptophan, the Binghamton-board-syndrome had taken hold or everybody just up and died.

Come on, is a Galaxy station out of Sandy Creek REALLY that much of a threat to B104.7? I'm surprised if CC is really shaking in their boots over Galaxy.

But if this is in fact the case, why not just simulcast B104.7 like they did right before The Dog was born? It was WXBB, if I recall correctly. That way, the B signal covers more territory.

If people love classic country that much, maybe that's a sign that B104.7 should be playing a little more of it. Seemed to work pretty well for Big Frog in Utica whenever it had a competitor. Having an entire extra station do classic country seems counter-productive. If people like WSCP, what will CC offer on 105.1 that will lure people away? 24/7 voicetracking certainly won't.

Yeah, they get enough voice-tracking on 104.7 as it is.

nobody sees wscp as a threat. this would be about making the best out of a bad situation and putting real money on the books. a wbbs full country and a wwdg classic country makes for a great combo buy. it will also make for easier cross promotion as clear channel attempts to take nascar. the overall thought is that with wbbs having an in house flanker then nobody will take wbbs head on. romano is scared of having wbbs face a head on competitor. im sure this is the plan and it will be implimented soon.
