I’m not a fan, but I don’t see that bit as a reason to fire them. There had to be something else in the mix.

There was certainly something else in the mix: Don Imus. They made a comment that was equally as offensive as Imus' "nappy headed hos" comment. CBS had to fire JV & Elvis, otherwise what they are saying asian people are not important to their company.
 
It's obvious now that JV&E were fired ahead of the flip and it had nothing to do with the prank call.

Shame on management for using it as an excuse.
