The Dothan "Uhh" factor

Hey there radio fans. Did a very unprofessional survey the last two days on the number of times radio morning teams said ...uhh...in a two minute time period when the mikes were open. Here are the results.

95.5 - 15 times (KC 0, Amie 15)
106.7 - 9 times (Squirrel 0, Kelly 9)
96.9 - 5 times (Mason 3, Misty 2)
560 am - 1 time
103.9 - 0 times
105.3 - 0 times
99.7 - 0 times

For what it is worth.

If only you'd been counting "duh" instead of "uh", I'd have won hands down! :D

UH..I wish uh I could uh listen to that many uh stations at once. You might uh have gotten more "uh" if you had listened longer. What does that have to do with good radio? It's just people being their self.
Come up with another stupid survey, we want to know how smart you are.

It has everything to do with good radio. It isn't just people, it is Radio Announcers.
Somebody who proclaims a message publicly. A master of oratory.
Supposed professionals that are prepared before they open their mouths.
Knowing what they are going to say without relying on an "Uhh" as a pause, delay, or bridge.
Uhhs just sound like a bunch of goobers talking, not radio professionals.
Sadly the English language is offen butchered in today's media.

Seconded.

"Uh," "And-uh," and the like are verbal placeholders. If you use them, you shouldn't, particularly when your job is speaking to thousands of people at once.

WOW...either a coincidence or the folks at WOOF read this board.
Sommers did a skit/contest with a listener on air about the Uhh factor!
Very creative of Dave and sounded good too.
