The dreaded Christmas thread is back!!!

Someone had to start the annual October Christmas message thread:

So who's flipping to an all-Holiday format this year? My guess would be definitely Lite 105, but with 93.3 WSNE Coast FM Coast 93.3 FM --or whatever they're calling it-- tweaking to more of a softer AC sound, and being run by Clear Channel, they may also make the switch. The question is: who's going to do it first?

Also, 99.1 WPLM/Plymouth is expected to run its "12 Days of Christmas" from December 14-25.

Does anybody remember the days when Lite 105 did the "24 Hours of Christmas?" Or when Cruisin' Bruce did his holiday oldies show on Christmas Eve evening and Christmas morning? Or when 103.7 was classic rock? Ok, the last one was self-indulgence.

Also, I wonder if the jazz station on 99.3 from Block Island will be playing any Christmas favorites.

Coast 93.3 actually went all-Christmas last year. I don't think they did it the year before, but they did it in 2003 and 2002. In fact, I think in 2002, it was the first station in New England to go all-Christmas. However, Lite Rock 105 went all-Christmas in 2004, and Coast didn't. But LR105 didn't until 2004. So it's very possible that both of them will again this year.

Also, on a side note, it was actually on December 26, 2002 when 93.3 WSNE rebranded as the short-lived "Star 93.3." Does anyone remember that? I think they had to ditch it because people were getting it confused with Star 93.7 in Boston at the time. And then I think they called it "The New 93.3" for awhile, and then after a few months, it became Coast.

Yes Coast skipped the All Christmas 2 years ago but went back to it last year. Coast and Lite will both do it around the same time this year what with those 2 stations being the closest thing to a music radio battle Providence has. Lite will always win though and it isn't because there's a lot wrong with Coast but that's the way it is. Coast isn't doing anything to make listeners come over in droves. They're just flanking the other CC stations. If nothing else once they go Christmas you'll be able to tell the difference between Coast and B101. I heard both stations play Hurts So Good at the same time today.

By the way WSNE stopped using Star because Star in Boston got themselves in a huff about it and stopped them from using it.
