The dumbest piece of scheduling I've ever seen

Not quite program scheduling, but commercial scheduling -- last night during the History channel's "Cajun Pawn Stars", an ad for Intuit's portable credit card processing service appeared, followed immediately by one for a similar but different service, Square.

I've also seen ads for things kids can't use or aren't interested in on Nickelodeon like Chevy trucks

Nickelodeon broadcasting advertisements for Chevrolet trucks would indicate they do not appeal only to children.

but why would GM buy ads on Nickelodeon when kids can't drive or buy trucks? I've also seen ads for local car dealers on Nickelodeon and CN

Maybe so that kids can pester their parents endlessly to buy a new car for them to ride in...."Can we have a new Chevy, huh, huh?" :)

General Motors may have been trying to get the attention of adults who like programs from Nickelodeon and the Cartoon Network and the attention of children who may consider purchasing an automobile from General Motors someday. By continuing to advertise with programs from Nickelodeon and the Cartoon Network, General Motors and local automobile dealerships could have many new customers in the future when they are old enough to drive and able to purchase an automobile.

I see non-children advertisements on PBS Kids Sprout. Matter of fact, the commercials now on Sprout are WAY too long for a children's network, I'm talking four+ min of ads sometimes...

It might not be that accidental, assuming you have aptly interested parents half-watching with their kids also.

this was during the day, during the time when people who could afford cars would probably be at work

This makes no sense, especially on a radio board where many people do not work banker's hours.

That wouldn't be much of a surprise. "Rudolph" - or more accurately, what's left of "Rudolph" after the CBS butchers carved it up again - usually airs the week after Thanksgiving. The "Frosty" duo is usually not far behind.

As to Charlie Brown's annual "rock collection," ABC is kind of stuck. Football Saturday, Videos Sunday, Dancing With tonight and tomorrow. Doesn't leave much of a window.

I thought that "Pumpkin" was trimmed, to where Charlie Brown only got a rock one time now. Has the "collection" been restored?

My favorite Charlie Brown moments include the rock-from-each-house & how he loses his clothes at any line drive baseball hit at him.....

I accidentally taped the show. If our choir ever starts practicing again I have the VCR set to tape "The Middle". I do have a memorial service this week at that time so it will be worthwhile. As I rewound, I realized Snoopy's marching and crying while Schroeder played the piano were missing.

I checked the schedules today and found out A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving will be on ABC Thanksgiving night again, but at least this time Fox is showing their Peanuts special, Happiness is a Warm Blanket, on Friday, Nov. 23. So there is no conflict this time. Hopefully there won't be conflict for A Charlie Brown Christmas.

even if you miss it, the DVD is at Target for no more than $10, you didn't have that option in 1977

I saw a national advertisement for Toyota Care (a complimentary maintenance and assistance program for new Toyota automobiles) during Nickelodeon's daytime programming recently.

Geico ads have been spotted on PBS Kids Sprout in the last few days. I think there were some direct response ads as well!

I saw an ad for D-Con rat poison on Nick yesterday morning. That has to be the worst yet! :p

Many years ago (late-1990s) when Nick would run a New Year's Eve special featuring Nicktoons up through Midnight or 1AM ET, the portion during the late-evening hours would often feature commercials focused on adults, including cars, violent movies, and even liquor. The rationale in that case was that the Nicktoons marathon was during Nick-at-Nite time, when the network normally focuses on adult viewers.

But when you find a rat poison ad during the day when most of Nick's audience is children, it seems advertisers no longer cares when an ad runs, as long as it's not offensive or a product of vice (I've mentioned that latter fact in reference to items like alcohol or condoms, as rat bait, though harmful to children like alcohol, is being advertised on Nick).

I should have made it clear that the D-Con ad was between shows, but that's still bad.

How about this on Cartoon Network: This episode of Tom & Jerry is sponsored by D-Con. :p ::)
