The Edge vs. The Buzz

To me Houston & D/FW markets seem similar yet CC's alt rockers are bringing in very different ratings KTBZ "The Buzz" has a 7.0 share and a cume of 1,178,800 while KDGE "The Edge" has a 3.0 share and a cume of 858,600. It seems that The Buzz plays more new songs where The Edge is heavy on the 90's and early 2000's. Another big difference is probably the fact that The Buzz has a morning show. Thoughts? Is The Eagle too similar to The Edge?

I personally don't know why CC has two Rockers. They need to kill one of em to let the other succeed. if KZPS didn't exist and the Edge Did not Exist KEGL would have a much broader play list. and would probably do better.

Could be right...

However, hypothetically, lets say KZPS, KDGE and KEGL all pull in a 3.0 right now - if they dump the 2 you suggested and KEGL is the ****-of-the-walk, would it pull in a 9.0 alone? If not, and the other 2 (new) formats don't make up a difference to get at least the same ratings as before, CC would be losing money and advertising.

The Edge's playlist has changed little in the last 10 years since they were on 94.5. I got tired of hearing the same Everclear and PJ and Linkin Park songs over and over and over.

I wish there was a station I could get that played some good indie rock.

TFJ, why not KXT? Arcade Fire, Azure Ray, Of Montreal, Dawes just to name a few I heard on 91.7 on the drive in to work this morning.

I'm kind of a late-night guy, so whenever I hear KXT they're playing more MOR/jazz stuff.

That list of bands (esp. Arcade Fire) is right up my alley, though.

To amend what I said earlier ... I worked late last night and caught the Undercurrents show on KXT driving home. Some good stuff. I heard Paul Simon, DMB and David Bowie with some acoustic rock mixed in.
