The Electric Company Status

Does anyone know if there are gonna be any more new episodes of 'The Electric Company'? Having seen it with my niece, I wound up liking the show myself. According to Wikipedia, the last new ep aired March 28, 2011 and they kinda made it look like it might not return...

I am guessing they won't be doing anymore new episodes, but I'm not sure. Many PBS stations have taken it off their schedule, which is usually not a good sign. I really think this type of show is a dying breed in children's entertainment. When most of kids in this day and age watch television, they usually turn to either Nickelodeon or the Disney Channel, and do not even think to turn to PBS.

I did not even know they had brought it back. The original, with Morgan Freeman,
Rita Moreno, et. al. was a daily staple at our house.

It's an affront to the original with Morgan Freeman, Rita Moreno et al. Even my 8-year old cousin thinks it's the lamest thing she's ever seen. On the other hand, just the other night I had to record yet another copy of my "Best Of" DVD Video discs of the original series for her, because the last ones I made got so scratched up they wouldn't play!

(I'm still waiting for somebody to release the original "Zoom" show on disc...)

If I live to be 107, I shall ALWAYS remember where to send a letter to Zoom.

They drilled it into my head so often I CAN"T GET IT OUT!!!!!

Yeah, that got drilled into my head as a junior-high aged youth, as well! They used that same address for the late-90s remake, which actually was remarkably true to the original (something that certainly can not be said about what passes for EC.)

It seems like there was some announcement that ZOOM wasn't coming back, along with "Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman" (six or eight months back, maybe? right after one of my sons started liking Fetch).

"Send it to Zoom!"

As for chances for a DVD set, I think WGBH wiped many of their early episodes years ago, keeping only a few later episodes for posterity. Before the latest Zoom series started, WGBH showed those episodes locally, leading to viewers asking not only for more episodes, but for a new Zoom series.

Times sure have changed quite a bit since the 70's.
Why do a sketch with a "magic mirror" when there can be a "magic ipad" doing the same thing?
