The End of an Ultimate Era

This Monday on PBS, after 46 years of being an hour long, Sesame Street finally decreases to 30 minutes. It will be the saddest day of my life. That show has been with me my whole life, and it’s sad to mess with a 46-year fixture. I’ve also noticed that certain PBS stations have had SS on at the same time slot for several years, and many seem to not know what to do with that timeslot. A big example is WITF in Harrisburg, PA. Since 1992, they have aired the show at 7 PM. Looking at their schedule, for that timeslot it simply says To Be Announced. Sure, they can air the half hour version in the slot, but the issue would be finding something to fill the void of the remaining half hour.
