The End of Citytv's "CityPulse"?

Apparently, the marquee in the CityPulse newsroom in Toronto now reads: Citytv - CityNews - CP24. This is what another poster had noticed during the June 16th newscast, which originates in Toronto. Before the change, the marquee read: Citytv - CityPulse - CP24. Wonder if this has to do with the changes at the "NewNet" and "A-Channel" stations in the fall.

Good observation! Not sure what the deal is there, but the CP24 website:
www.cp24.com/ is still advertising their news to be CityPulse News.
______________

The 'pulse' moniker goes back to the days when CFCF in Montreal owned CITY, and their news show was called 'pulse'.

A little unrelated, but A-Channel Calgary's newsroom is now being renovated for Citypulse/Citynews right now. They appear to be using a chromakey screen with customized backgrounds for each of their news programs with a plasma screen in front.
______________

Interesting, I never knew about the association between CITY and CFCF, but turns out from 1975-1978 Multiple Access (owners of CFCF for a few years in the 70s) did have 45% ownership in the station.

Citypulse news is the name they should keep because it is a well known name in Toronto. All other City stations should go with the Citypusle name as well.

When is the big change to take place? I hear August 1st or 2nd, at least for New VR to become "A" channel, not sure about the rest, but I am expecting the change to happen all at once to all the stations that are making the change.

(note: I put the A in quotes to seperate it from apearing as Ah channel)
______________

I hate to bring this up, but you called CityPulse "CityPusle", LOL. And you're not the first...perhaps that could be the name of a late-night newscast!

Well, we'll find out on August 2nd...

A-Channel Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg become Citytv.
The A-Channel building in Calgary has a small window painting with the Citytv logo and 'August 2nd' below it...
______________

...the odd thing is...what ever happend to the saying "This is City TV...EVERYWHERE!" August second sounds like a better time than ever to say that.
______________
