Today (April 19th), Radio and Records.com's "Street Talk" column is reporting that WRNO owner Clear Channel may be giving serious consideration to flip one of it's New Orleans FM stations to talk, and that WRNO may be that station.

With Clear Channel ownership, WRNO probably would get upon launch as a talker, the syndicated talk shows from sister company Premiere Networks, especially Rush Limbaugh. Rush alone could make a new talk station a contender in the local ratings.

And remember this: Nationally, rock radio is on a serious decline. Many stations are bailing out of the format.

that is mainly because we are bored with it..same songs over and over again..never anything diffrent..ever..we just dont want to hear that crap anymore...thank God for xm..but it is still sad to see wrno flip.it is the only station still around that i listened to as a kid..rip wrno...see you in heaven with rock 92.3/ k94 ksmb/ and rock 107.....oh yea and the zephyr 1061...long live xm!!!!!

Maybe the news/talk flip press release was a stunt. The music you are suggesting would much more appropriately support the Rod Ryan show.

The date is not official but an estimate considering the letter WIST posted on their website over Hannity leaving and saying the final date was May 17th (in the letter It is a typo apparently as it says last airdate is to be May 17th,2004)http://wistradio.com/hannity.pdfRather than give a fan base to a new station, WIST apparently dropped Hannity to help possibly kill some of the listeners off before he airs again in the market.Now apparently they are live and local for afternoonsRFLA
