I Heard About This On The KCRA 3 News. Wow, After 11 Years Of CHR/Pop, KDND Is Changing Formats. Also This Comes Just 3 Months After ENTERCOM Flipped KWOD-106.5's Format From ALTERNATIVE ROCK to 90's. I Wonder What The New Format Will Be? Let The Speculation Begin!

I'll Be The First To Speculate. How About FM Sports? They Could Either Simulcast Or Move KCTC-ESPN 1320 Or How About The First FM News/Talk Station To Compete Against CC's KFBK-1530 & KSTE-650? Or What Type Of Music Will They Change To? As Long As It Isn't Another Classic Hits Like KCCL-92.1 & KHLX-93.1.

That's surprising since CHR does well under PPM.

Sounds like a new name for the station or some kind of promotion.

The station is #5 12+. The station is strong 18-34 and should be making decent money.

Geesh....KCRA jumped the gun and based their report on vague reference on the KDND website.

A format change makes absolutely NO SENSE.

Then again. Entercom not being able to make money on KWOD when KROQ is the 2nd highest biller in the nation. Sacramento didn't become THAT unhip to alternative in recent years. Entercom tinkered with the station to protect 98 Rock and destroyed a heritage alternative in the process. Now they are splitting a meager share in the Hot AC lifegroup with KZZP and KGBY.

A current based alternative should do well in the PPM and is to agency buyers...Look again at KROQ.

my sources say that this is nothing more than a stunt over there. nothing will change except the name. i don't quite know what the name is, but nothings changing.

sales staff are still being told that they're selling for a CHR station. The End's own website is still promoting Friday Night Football appearances starting on sept 11.

Stunt from the word "Go".

They're not going anywhere.

Thinking "The End says goodbye...to your BILLS!"

Had loads of respect for Channel 3, until right then.

I only WISH the HOT AC KZZP was still around. Unfortunatly CC got its hands on it and made it a KISS clone. Long story short... KZZP is in Phoenix.

Anyway.. this saying "goodbye" is probably just some vacation giveaway stunt....

NO NO.. they are flipping to CHRISTMAS! That must be it : P>

Hmm, the Beatles Rock Band goes on sale 9/9, and The End is saying Goodbye on 9/8.

You say goodbye, I say hello.

Very lame, but at least no one will die this time. Probably.

Wow, people actually falling for this stunt? What will the End change to?

Studiofart --your source is correct. If I was selling at a competing station, I'd make clients a deal: Make me a bet: If they don't change formats, you buy a six-month schedule; if they do, I'll give you six months free and pay for it with my commission. Call me Wednesday.

Anyone who knows the station's ratings history and anything about PPM will know that if there's any change at all, it won't be in format. Maybe they'll stop calling themselves "The End," but PPM doesn't care about crap like branding. Just goes to show that Mason is a lot smarter than the idiots running the TV stations.

KRZR 103.7 in Fresno a few years ago did the same thing, They announced that they were saying GOOD BYE on a certain date, It ended up being they were saying good bye to MANCOW.

Noticed that the morning girl is preggers. Maybe they're saying "goodbye" to her for her maternity leave.
Though the video on the site says " After 11 years of playing the hits...." so maybe they're saying goodbye to Chris K. He's been there since the start. Seems a little anti climatic though...hmmm

I think an earlier post had it right...

They definitely are NOT dropping the CHR format, IMO. Why on earth would they?

It will more than likely be a rebranding with maybe some minor programming changes.

For what ever the reason they got all the free publicity any station or business would crave.Nice to see at least someone was 'thinking' this time.

Well let's see...Tuesday Sept. 8th is the day after Labor Day. I'm seeing the head lice commercials on TV here in my market, which means the kids are back in school. That pretty much spells "THE END" of summer to me. Goodbye.
