The Extravaganza - One year later......

so its been almost exactly a year since Tony B was let go from the Extravaganza, and where is the show now? who knows. more specifically, who cares? in 12 mos, that show has gone from basically the flagship of the FSR line-up to an afterthought. i mean, they dont even advertise the show anymore. van hurl was a bad, bad decision and even though i like stein (and andrew for that matter)this new show might even be worse. i tried to listen this morning, but had to turn it after about 3 minutes. meanwhile, tony is sounding better than ever and i have every confidence that his affiliate list will grow and grow. nice move, Fox.......

i have not tuned in to it since bruno went nationwide.
like all things, it had its run. game over.

The good ol' days of Tony B and Andrew. Stein reaches at times to be funny, FSR and ESPN radio are dying fast.

In hindsight, I'm quite pleased with the ways things have shaken out. Although I miss Chris Morales and his perfectly-timed sound drops, the Willard-Bruno pairing is as good or better than Siciliano-Bruno. But the icing on the cake, for me at least, is that I discovered the Petros Papadakis show thanks to Tony's landing at 1540 The Ticket. That never would have happened if Tony were still over at FSR.

same here, scream. but i also would have never turned to gary radnich for my TB fix. the 10 to 15 min that they get together is classic, classic radio. and radnich by himself is great too......

Bruno and Radnich are indeed gold. Pure elemental gold. Dr. Rick's got it right.

FSR is dead now, but it won't go away. Unfortunately, it continues to exist, even in its death, because of corporate radio ownership. These corporations (and you know who you are) made deals at the corporate level to carry this programming on their stations. In these cases there's no concern about quality or ratings, just that the bottom line at corporate is bigger. They don't seem to care about their stations either, because they cut them out of both the decision-making on programming and the local revenue stream.

I couldn't agree more about Petros. For the first month, listening online, I wondered who was the guy screaming Felix Cadillac and Barry's Tix commercials. Once I listened, I was hooked. Petros is a true talent that will eventually emerge on a larger scale.

Lance Romance, that "big black beautiful cat" Felix, the movie reviews, Kool-Aid Man, The Chicken/Gallo, John "The Don" Papadakis, the crosstalk with Fred Roggin....all those bits make me spew coffee over my keyboard, just like Jim Rome wishes he could make us do.
