The Fabulous 690 on Xtra Sports 570

Yesterday at just after 4pm on Xtra Sports 570 during the sports update on the Hacksaw show, the Fabulous 690's signal broke in and played for about 3-4 minutes. I tuned over to 690 and sure enough, it was the same signal. Very odd but eventually programming switched back. Anyone else catch that?

Just FYI, The Fabulous 690 is going to be on for a while longer. At least until the first of the year, maybe longer.

Lou Simon, former morning boss jock on Hitradio 93 KKHR, is doing the music. He is a true old school radio PRO.

WOW! That's the best radio news I've heard. Fabulous 690 is
a Great Radio Station. Thank's CC for keeping it alive!

Re: The Fabulous 690

I hate to rain on your parade since you clearly like the format so much, but I think it is a case of prolonging it's death not giving it new life. The new owners are not going to keep a format they most likely do not even understand.

I would listen as much as you can now.

XETRA's cross border permit approved

XETRA's cross-border permit [studios in U.S. and transmitter in Mexico] was approved by the FCC today. The English format is expected to go away very soon. A link to the approval from http://SDRadio.net

Re: The Fabulous 690

I would think it obvious that the "Fabulous" format was only put on 690 as a programming placeholder - something to fill space pending the dealing of the station.

Obvious because:
1) You don't recreate a format that you only recently canned (on another fequency) on a flamethrower like 690.
2) You don't invest effort into a frequency you know the FCC has mandated you to spin off.
3) You don't program formats that appeal to shrinking demographics with no agency buying potential.

The answers to these questions, as well as the presence on the station of brokered shows and medical talk, all point to the inescapable conclusion that CC never meant this format to last.

Sorry, but that's the way it is.
