The Fan 100.3

Any thoughts one month into FM sports?

Tom Gamble sounds like he's having trouble filling up a three hour show without Reds and Bengals games and news to talk about. He was banging on health club attire and his struggles scheduling high school football games the past couple days.

Don't get to hear much during the day, CBS night show is pretty bad and no competition for WLW.

I like having the option of hearing local sports talk in the mornings, however I have noticed they are running a lot of Public Service Announcements instead of commercials. Either Radio One is not selling the format to Local business or are they waiting to see the first PPM ratings? They will have to add more local shows on weekends and afternoons or the format will not last very long.

Cincinnati is tough town to do sports talk. Only 2 pro teams, so this time of year is a dead spot. UC, X, & UK hoops don't strike the chords that Reds & Bengals do.

I am enjoying FM 100 The Fan and appreciate the alternative to CCs offerings. Find myself listening to Tom Gamble in the mornings on the way to work and laugh quite a bit. It sure is nice to have live, local sports talk in the morning again. Hopefully they can do local in afternoon drive as some have mentioned on this board. I just hope it's not Wildman Walker. He's irritating and listening to him butcher the English language is like fingernails on a blackboard. It would be nice to see them hire a real pro.

Best sports talk guy in the city though is still Ken Broo.

Agreed. Tom Gamble has a good morning show. And the afternoon local show, if they really do one, won't involve Wildman. He just got hired by ClassX (88.9, 89.1, 89.3) for the afternoon drive.

As for the CBS Sports Radio offerings, the MOJO show in the evenings is alright, and I also enjoy the overnight "D.A. Show."

So who gets a higher rating for January? The Fan or Fox Sports 1360?

I don't see any weekend local shows happening.

Any clues on who will host the show? I doubt it will be anyone from out of town. This station does need some advertiser support or they might as well flip back to Jammin Oldies.

Haven't really heard PSA's this morning, just promos for Yeltin Fine Jewlers, a male enhancement drug, and a credit card commercial, and the usual Dickman's promo.

They're doing a local show called "Motorsports Nation." Haven't announced a start date, but they had an interview earlier today with the person will be hosting the show.
