Is it me or does 105.3 have more redneck listeners than any other station...just curious?

One caller today seemed to be blaming Jerry Jones for all the world's problems even though the guy was upset most about the scoreboard.

Why not shank every punt or pooch kick every time? Football would be more fun. ;)

In high school, you could placekick instead of punting. Alas, in the pros, the ball returns to the line of scrimmage.

Rednecks, or hicks? Cause there does seem to be a lot.

Also just wanted to get everyones take on this, never heard it during the Live days or any other talk show radio I've heard. When did everyone start giving their opinions and then tell the host that they will hang-up and listen?

Does no one want to carry on a conversation, possibly an argument with the shows???

Maybe they want there country music back on 105.3. LOL

i think you're one of the many callers mac daddy. its 'their'. :)

I agree when/who started the 'i'll hang up and listen'?

I don't know where i heard it but some wise ole man told me that only the lowest of the low will call in and talk to radio hosts. I guess that's me. :) If you live in Texas for even a short while, you have a little 'hick' in ya.

I've heard people say this for years on every kind of radio talk show format. Never have understood why people do that.

Ok, maybe I just haven't paid attention.

Still it just seems stupid that someone would call in and tell their opinion, yet not carry on a conversation to get into an argument.

What if someone doesn't want to get into an argument? Especially if they feel like they aren't as smart/knowledgable as the host...

Why argue with a Hitzges/Galloway/Rhyner/etc who have been covering sports in this town for decades. Someone may feel like they don't have the "skins on the wall" to argue head-to-head with one of those types.

Someone may just want to register their opinion (Chris Davis sucks, T.O was a cancer, Modano is too old now, etc) without necesarily getting into a long drawn out argument that they can't win anyhow...

Argument wasn't the correct wording, I'm talking more about conversing with someone. It just seems stupid for someone to say "T.O is a ****** and that's all I have to say; I'll hang up and listen."

It makes these people sound ridiculous.

From my experience, a lot of those people say that so they get the opportunity of hanging up first. Most of those talk shows when the caller is done talking they immediately hang up and start talking about it, with some exceptions.

These people just assume they will get hung up on and they say it as a pay back.

my favorite is when callers tell the board op, producer or call screener a long drawn out opinion then say "But I don't want to be on the air..."

If you don't want to be on air - DON'T CALL IN!

Why do they think the guy answering the phones gives a rats ass? Unless you're going to add something worth substance to the show, no one cares. Not like the screener will drop what he's doing and pass a note to the host of the brilliant opinion from the guy who just hung up.

Once the receiver hits the hook, you're forgotten about.

I think some may do it so that it opens up a phone line for someone else to call in.

You may have to wait until after the Cowboys season is over.

Have you ever called in to a station before. You are on hold forever. Perhaps these people are trying to save their minutes as they have already wasted 40 miniutes or so on hold.

That's a trick...at least it was for me. I'd use that line as a way to let them know I wasn't someone who self-righteously thought I should be allowed on the air. In my experience, when you're relaxed enough to say you don't neccessarily need to be on the air, they tend to put you through more often. Usualy when I *didn't* use that line, I wasn't let through. I'd just get an "Ok, I'll tell him" and then a hang up.
