The fate of Save Alternative

The Save Alternative format that was on KSJO for the past few weeks will continue to stream and will be carried on KCNL HD2, as well as KCNL's main signal on Saturday and Sunday nights, thoughts?

I think that's great they got that slot and from having a personal conversation with one of the people behind it, he thinks it has a good chance and they are putting a lot into it. It definitely got a huge response (1,500+ fans on their Facebook in just 2 1/2 weeks!) and people were comparing it to how alt radio was in it's earlier years. I personally enjoyed every minute of it!

I've talked to many who enjoyed that little stint of KSJO as well. Many of them were our customers - which would bode well if we ever needed to advertise. If there was anything that's going to actually spur the use of HD radios, this is probably it. Unfortunately the audio quality, as mediocre as it was on KSJO, is even worse on the HD-2 of KCNL.

A losing proposition. The whole KUSF controversy is running on public relations fumes right now. They never had an audience large enough to support them and they would have disappeared years ago if the university hadn't been footing the bill. Being on an HD-2 signal is one step above carrier current. Maybe worse. This isn't a radio station, it's a specialty show.

The latest email from SaveAlternative.com has new links to "Listen Live" online and (for the time being) via smart phones. Also mentions an upcoming party in San Jose to be announced.

What does this have to do with KUSF?
