The fate of the 97.5 jocks

I'm sorry to learn of WJJZ's demise, again. I had it on one of the buttons on my car radio.

You can't blame the talent. They gave it everything they've got. I wish all of them the best as they look for work.

I think it depends on the new format, and how much it diverges from jazz. If they stay with some kind of urban music format, they'd be smart to stay with some of the same people. If they go talk or sports, they proably won't fit. The on-air people air the names and faces people associate with a station. If they want to change that image, the easiest way is to change the talent.

If they are let go, there are many other places in Philly for them to go.

when 104.5 switched from "Star" to "Alice" a few years back, they surprisingly kept the jocks. they stayed off-air for two weeks, then they were all back.

I'm not sure there are that many places for them to go anymore. five or ten years ago, maybe. but today you'd be hard pressed to find as many openings as you had back then.
