Larry Rifkin, Charlie Profit and Tom Chute did a good job with the flood remembrances on WATR today. Quite a few callers had interesting stories to tell about their experiences on "Black Friday" and afterwards.

I was interested in their show because I was 5 years old that summer and grew up about a mile away from major flood devastation in Waterbury.

The Hartford Courant and New Haven Register ran good series earlier this week on the flood. A story in the Waterbury Republican-American this morning told what measures have since been put in place (including dams, better p&z enforcement and a statewide flood communication system) to prevent this type of flood again.
