The Fly On The KSFO Wall Says...

...that the broadcast partnership between the Oakland Raiders and 560/KSFO has been terminated.

Raider Radio in 2008 ... KNBR/1050? KNTS/1220? KTRB/860?

DJ

1050? Doubt it, because the Niners use that when the Giants are on and also I don't know how happy the 49ers would be with the Raiders sharing the same brand of KNBR.

Of course, KHTK/1140 could simply move their transmitter a bit closer to the Bay Area and take care of things that way.

KHTK has a terrific signal here in the far reaches of the Eastbay; the past few seasons, I'd listen to the Raiders on 1140 rather than 560 for that reason alone.

In SF county only... of the kind of males who don't tend to listen to football games...

Yeah, I can see Al Davis making that call. And once John Peake stops laughing...

A workmate of mine, Zach - a die-hard Raider fan, too - complained to me recently that when
the Raiders were on 1050 prior, he could not hear 1050 during a night game in the (Oakland-
Alameda County) Coliseum parking lot...I doubt if the Raiders would go to KTCT for that
reason...

Me thinks I doubt if the Niners would complain about the Raiders' presence on KTCT if it
DID happen...

I DO know this is going to be a lonnnnnnnnng 2008 for us local baseball and football fans...

I have listened to Raider games on KHKK (104.1 FM) and I have to tell you- Sports on FM kinda sucks.

I don't know if it is just because I have become so used to hearing sports on AM, or if it's the lack of compression and audio processing on the FM, but it just loses a lot of the excitement and urgency that it has on AM. I have to admit, I find myself bored wheile listening to the Raiders on the FM station. I either tune to the AM or wait until I get home and watch the game on Tivo.

A good way to check the "FM effect" on sports is to toggle between KYCY AM @ 1550 and KFRC FM @ 106.9 during an A's game.

I think the football helped KGO in the past, draw sports listeners to talk radio, but it messing up the schedule for talk people, PLease!!!!! ? is that Karel? the fly only has one right wing.

Carter B I toggle all the time and think the FM play by play sounds pretty cool.....lots of low end...a lot less tinny than am---of course we are talking about 1550.

But being a radio freak, and an AM freak...i toggled the niners on 107.7 and 1050 and 680....still dig the FM more.....

FYI---The Raiders hate the KSFO political association.....Spocko's one man tirade against KSFO trickled to the brass at the Raiders and made them really listen to the station that was carrying their games. Their conclusion--they need to find a new home. the problem--no one wants them.

Hmmm... I thought that there was an ERASE button here somewhere. Oh well. Howzabout we just pretend like none of the preceding stuff is there and go with this instead:

(Ahem.)

My fly on the KGO wall says that Mickey Luckoff told the staff over lunch yesterday that the Oakland Fighting Football Raiders will be returning to KSFO next season, with a station option to renew for 2009.

I have swatted the other fly for the bad knowledge. (Unfortunately, the fly appeared to enjoy being swatted. Ewwwwww...)

Never trust that fly again.

Unfortunately, my fly in this case was not tripton99, who may be as close to this situation as anyone...
