The Fly on the Perun Wall Says...

Major changes in on air talent, imaging, sales, programming and even audio coming within 30 days at KFRC.

And now for the really big news: A FREQUENCY SWAP!!!!!!!!!

Newsperson responds:

Except they have never cared about whether a live jock is on the air or the automation is just playing.

Even when a good jock is on they play the liners so much that it is difficult to listen.

Can we go back to the days when a live personality is allowed to deliver a liner in his or her own way?

And the music.......how many Billy Joel or Elton John songs do we have to hear? We'll never hear anything that is even slightly less known. Songs like Elton John and his version of " Goin to the Chapel" and other artists who just had a few hits, in other words more song oriented than artist.

Back to new jocks........it doesn't matter who's on if they are superceeded by a recorded voice. It that situation a CD player is still better.

How about some viewponts from others.

I know I have been negative here and I am a positive person, however I am just being realalistic.

Look forward to your thoughts.

Newsperson

How much of a difference can it be whether the liner is delivered in automation or live? Except for some AM drive shows, almost every jock in the Bay Area could be phoning it in. I don't blame the jock.....it's just the nature of current management thinking. The damn liner cards take all the risk out of the station's presentation.

Music radio, between the songs, is in a horrible state whether its live or automated. Remote voicetrackers cutting liners in their bedroom to be fed over the Internet is an insult to what's left of the talent once known as air talent.

EXCITING! Boss, have you been tapped be a part of the new morning team? Can't wait!!

What about the Oakland A's? Are they staying in Oakland? Are they staying in the American League?
All this talk about swapping frequencies and such, gets me thinking about them Athletics on KFRC. I hope they will be o.k. in this alleged move that is being discussed.

Why would they be considering a frequency swap? What's done is done, why confuse people by changing things again? I guess a few people in outlying parts of the Bay Area and Sacto would be happy to receive the superior signal from 99.7, but I doubt that CBS management is worried about a few people in fringe reception areas.

I've griped about KFRC as much as anyone, but I have to admit that I DO think the music mix is better lately. I've only had time to listen a few hours a week, but I've enjoyed it so far. I'm not getting playlist fatigue either...in other words, I haven't noticed excessive repetition. But maybe that's just because I haven't listened often enough.

Like most people who post here, I was disappointed that they hadn't changed the imaging, the overuse of pre-recorded liners, and lack of jock involvement along with the new playlist. But given the unimaginitive state of radio in the new millenium so far, I'm no longer expecting much, so any improvement is a good thing.

They'll be okay ... for this season.

Next season? You may be tuning in to 860 AM for your A's on the radio....

Hey, we've all got our price. I for one would love to hear her back on the air.

So this thread starts with a very provocative announcement that KFRC is going to clean house and possibly change frequencies. Extremely important to anyone involved, severely interesting to anyone whether involved or not. No subsequent post questions the the OP or subject, no analysis of what it would mean to individuals or the market at large. Next post in the thread simply pulled out the old "no wonder because here's what's wrong with KFRC" blather leading to a series of tired "here's what I would do's"...and the thread further degenerates into whether some used up DJ will return.

Is this hell? Am I in hell? Was I redirected to Hell-Info.com?
I need to wash my browser in holy water and Clorox.

Cammy is a friend of mine and I resent her being referred to like that. Show some respect. I've been off the air since 1999... what's that make me?

maybe everyone is tired of these provocative announcements that mean nothing and 99% of the time lead to nothing. if another chr/urban/rhythmic/jazz/rock station comes in...who cares --- now days its all about -- hey i can play the same songs you do but i'm different...I'll play them faster, slower, or with better "imaging" in between *** SIDE NOTE...listeners don't know what imaging is nor do they care about it) so that being said - who cares...the audience sure doesn't

Good imaging is subtle and/or incidental. It is not meant to be identified.
Good imaging infers and/or sustains an "image."
Good imaging need not provoke an audience, all it has to do is associate.
A good image-maker is not concerned with direct impact, but would insist on an "influence."

Show some respect.

Some things I don't especially crave for myself nor feel a need to afford others: Respect. Manners. Class. Give me a good reason to operate otherwise.

Cammy has burned a lot of bridges to companies that have given her huge opportunities. Bridges gone, usefulness gone. Used up. How could the fact that she is your friend change that dynamic?

Dung, I am unsure of your own history in that context, so of course have no point of reference with which to guess what that would make you. I do know you were well listened to, and many of your verbal mannerisms actually became a part of the local lexicon. Kudos. Not many radio shows penetrated the zeitgeist thus. A nice history to have.

I think you're being a little oversensitive, Dungboy. How long Cammy (or you) have been off the air has nothing to do with it.

Nobody in this thread said anything disrespectful to Cammy. I've probably bashed Cammy more than anybody on this board - sometimes seriously, sometimes tongue in cheek. But many posters here - myself included - feel that she was an irritating presence on the air and had very little talent, and we were kind of amazed that she had such a long run (a decade or more) on KFRC while others of far superior talent can't seem to get a break.

That's our opinion, and we expressed it. She also has had some supporters on this board, and that's fine, too. She's lucky to have you as a friend.

I don't get that...far as I know she was only at two stations in, what....20 years. KNBR, wasn't it, and KFRC? What was the story on the burning bridges? I never heard that one...

"I have to admit, I really enjoyed listening to Camey in the morning...with both of her co-hosts."

Actually, it would be "all 3[/u]" - Ron Parker, JD, and Dean Goss. Goss has been doing weekends solo on KFRC again lately. Maybe it's practice for a Cammy & Dean reunion...
