the fox oldies show on 1470 WSAN

ok gang! here i am with big news! AM 1470 THE FOX...WSAN now has "the fox oldies show" weekday mornings from 9am to noon with diane lee.sorta a half time from sports talk.a strange but very good move to have a show like this.hopefully we will have nice comments.me? i am thrilled! BTW it sounds like diane is doing the show live....doesn't matter to me....the oldies are back on 1470.even for 3 hours.soon hopefully more!!!

just curious.. but who did you poll to make this change?? and you are the one that made the change correct??

So let's see...oldies, six months of religion, sports talk, and now a sports/music hybrid. A lot of change on this frequency over the last 14 months. Next up, a AAA format. Bring back some of the old SAN progressive rock jocks to do it. Think I'm crazy? NO worse than what has happened on this frequency over the past 14 months.

I'll give a listen tomorrow. I'm surprised it's only 3 hours a day. When WRAW flipped back, I expected 1470 to flip back within days. Didn't happen. But I assume all oldies is just down the road a piece.

so that makes how many FULL TIME SALES PEOPLE ON-AIR at WKAP now? Do they sell their own remotes or can they subcontract that out to JOLLY JOE?

If that happens make room for me and me and Stewart Brodian! And for sure the legendary Josh Dylan!

1.no i took no poll!....2.i heard about the fox oldies show on 790 WAEB!....3.it was dan's camera shop that got the oldies back on 1470 & diane lee....4.i too thought with WRAW being back in reading that oldies 1470 would return or go the true oldies channel.....5.where are the WKAP calls?......6.NO! don't make WSAN what it was in the 70's! it won't work.the hawk sounds a lot like SAN did then.the oldies format will always be popular in the lehigh valley! diane lee doing the 3 hour tour monday through friday is proof of it.or just the beginning of more to come.....7.i love stewart brodian's show on WDIY! he's doin' just fine there! if it was let's say 1975? stew would be great on the album station! 8......my big finish.....the mix of sports/music hybrid sorta makes up for losing WEST and oldies WKAP!

I disagree! Josh Dylan and I in the mornings. Stew in the afternoons (the afternoon stew great name), Neil Hever from 3 to 7, and Rich Gensiak at night.

ok! if the album station would really return to 1470!!!....gasp! count me in for weekends and my version of the "wooden sound machine" soul show on sunday nights at 10pm...playing the 70's soul stuff of course like john wood did.lot's of johnny "guitar" watson.and bring back the king biscut flower hour.how about joe swanson as well....yea man...

so once again.. a change that has nothing to do with the listening publics wants or oppinions then?? and an advertiser was the sole motivaton for the change??? that's good.. weren't they big sponsors of ken matthews in the morning previously?? and if so.. what does that say about thier loyalty to a morning show that if they change that frequently to bet your whole mornings ratings on a format for one sponser???

Well, I said it on other posts and it seems to be coming true little by little.

Two AM sports stations in the Valley is too much. One of them has to go. That has always been my contention. With WFMZ television sports guys doing a sports show on 1230 on the weekend, it is all the more reason why 1230 is becoming the premier sports station around here.

And don't forget that WSAN airs Italian music on Sundays from 9 to noon. This programming has gone on for months. The advertising on this Italian program is mostly from the Easton region because the original program was on WEST before it went to (SIGH) Spanish.

So now that makes TWO music programs on 1470. In fact, the announcement that the oldies program would be airing from 9-12 was mentioned last Sunday on the Italian program Tempo Italiano.

Someone on another post mentioned that nobody listens to local sports because WIP comes in so well in the Allentown area and people would rather listen to WIP. Well I can tell you that this is not the case in the Easton area. Reception is not the best and almost nonexistent at night. In fact, there was a time many years ago that WEEX used to simulcast WIP out of Philly. I think the call letters were WIPI but I am not sure about that. It was great to hear WIP loud and clear but I think it lasted less than a year.

For all of you guys who want WSAN to be like it was in the 70's, give it up already. That type of music is better suited on the FM dial and you know it!

If the oldies format was as popular in the Lehigh Valley, it would have a home on FM. It doesn't. But if what you say is true, then CC made a huge blunder when it took oldies off this frequency to begin with. It makes no sense for a three hour music show on an all sports radio station. This idea is INSANE.

agree with you 100% but the idea isn't insane though.. its just plane retarded. if any of the pd's had half a brain they'd actually ASK people what they want instead of spending thier time on here bragging about how they went from 10th to 8th in the ratings or saying everything is ok when the numbers speak otherwise (ie b104 from 3rd to 6th and trailing an am station) one of the reason the lehigh valley stations are losing revenues is simple... management as i have seen from being on these boards for almost a year thinks that they know everything and don't need to ask anyone what they want caus they know what WE, the listening public, want. the only station that seems to get it is that one that mr. watson mentioned that went to spanish. we have the largest hispanic population in pa based on percentage.. so why in the world WOULDN'T

sorry .. first part got cut off.

"how would you like me to help you?" these guys don't even ask what they want to listen to and thier a radio station??? like i said... retarded. but that would explain why i probably make more than most of them combined.... caus i actually take the time to listen and don't think i know everything. amazing how that works.

eeeeek i got myself in a fine mess! and or...what a fine mess lehigh valley radio is in! i give WAEB and WSAN my thanks for having the "oldies"! online,on holidays at 790,and now 3 hours a day on 1470! yes! taking off oldies 1470 WKAP "is" a major mistake! no sales after a 5 year run? as for hola on 1400 WEST.well sadly it was gonna happen that the format was to be changed and the station sold.it's making money? there are still very upset listeners of the orignal WEST in crayolaville.crazy eddie his prices are...INSANE! sorry...

let's see. we have oldies in the morning on WSAN. we have oldies on line brought to you by the folks at WAEB. we have WGPA that does oldies on saturday afternoon and sunday afternoon. we even have a doo wop show on WDIY. even a dinky college cable station kutztown university radio has a daytime format that includes many oldies. that's 5 area stations that feel the need to do oldies part time. isn't that proof enough that there is a demand for it and the area deserves ONE station that does it full time, even if just on AM?

I-78! thank you!!!....you hit it right on the head...or on the board....errrrr.BTW...blue moon saturday is a great "oldies" type show....on WDIY! right after bluesville with chicago carl.uh-0h! i'm plugging again....as for WAEB 790 there will be oldies on christmas day noon to midnight.and on new years eve 6pm all the way through new years day and night.can't ask for more....yes! a full time lehigh valley oldies station AM or FM....by summer 08.

And also remember that at one time 99.9 WODE was the number one oldies station in the U.S. (I think) before it changed its format to Classic Hits.

I've been listening to this oldies show for a few weeks now, and I'd give it a 5 out of 10. That girl is not an oldies jock, her voice is too nasal, and I don't care about hearing about her excercise routine.

I listen in the car by default, but if you want to hear how an oldies station should sound, check out this AM from Ventura, California.
