The Fugitive

One of my favoriate shows from the 1960s was The Fugitive. Does anyone know if one of the cable networks plans on carrying this show in the future? I am surprised that TV Land does air this show already.

I remember the show aired Tuesday nights on ABC at 10:00 p.m. It ran for four years and the final two episodes were among the highest rated in TV history until M A S H's final episode aired several years later.

David Janssen was excellent as Dr. Richard Kimble as was Barry Morse's portrayal of Lt. Gerard.

Morse is the only surviving regular cast member of the show. I believe he's living in Canada somewhere. Janssen died in 1980 of a heart attack and the actor who played the one-arm man died of cancer.

It would be nice if TV land or some other cable network would pick up the show. Personally I am getting tired of repeats of the Jeffersons, Sanford and Son and All in the Family along with Andy Griffith. All of them great shows but after a while seeing the same episodes over and over again can get quite boring.

I always thought AmericanLife had the right idea, somewhat. They air really old TV shows like Maverick, Combat, Man From UNCLE and The Honeymooners. If you can find it on digital cable and you can get past the underlying Unification Church/Moonie ownership and "wholesome" on-air drivel, they do carry some pretty good shows.

Nonetheless, there should be an outlet devoted to some of this old stuff. TV Land has turned to crap, since it's really neglecting some good programming.

ALN is owned by the Moonies? SHEESH!!!

No offense here, but after the Fugitive ended on abc, I thought the "syndication sales" would be ZERO. It ended in the 60's (right?) and IIRC abc even ran it daytime, briefly. I believe it was brioefly offered in syndication, but had few takers.

To me, the chase, and the capturing of "the one-armed man" are the WHOLE show. Period. Everyone finally knew how it ended. It was the talk of my school the next day. That final episode generated FABULOUS ratings. The final scenes are in an amusement park, right?

So - Maybe NOW - a couple of generations after it has not been shown, it WOULD generate interest, both to people who haven't seen it, AND to people like me, who remember how GOOD it was.

I was very po'ed last night that Andy replaced Gunsmoke. I'm TIRED of Andy. REST Those great shows a while. Gunsmoke has great scripts, great production and great acting.

Peace!

I remember seeing a few of those episodes but i didnt ever watch it reguraly.....

I wouldnt mind seeing it from show #1 i guess.....

I think i saw THE LAST EPISODE where the guy chasing him cornered him in an amusement park and said he knew he was innocent.. (I think anyway.....)

I remember when the Fugitive movie with Harrison Ford came out (1993?) NBC showed the first and final episodes of the TV series as a special over 3 nights.

Updating my original post from 2007. Barry Morse passed away so there no longer any original cast members of "The Fugitive" left.

Due to this forum's formatting, you can see the Wikipedia article here:

''(edit by poster: Look it up yourself on Wikipedia -- appareantly, Tinyurls are not allowed here.)''

As for religion, they practically swapped one religion for another, though, as if that article has any indication, there is less secular shows and more religious shows, including a documentary on radical Islam that seems to be biased towards Christianity.

Nothing nothing to do with Tinyurls. It's just a hiccup in the code that detaches the closing parenthesis from the rest of the URL.

This will get you to the article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ALN (TV channel)

In the early 1990's the A&E Network aired reruns of The Fugitive twice a day Monday through Friday.

At the time I believe The Fugitive was the most popular show on A&E, if it wasn't it was close since the show sure led many people to find the channel anyway.

Also I believe the success of The Fugitive on A&E did paved the way for the Harrison Ford/Fugitive movie in the early 90's.

For those in Chicagoland can watch The Fugitive on MeToo. It can be watched on WMEU-CA analog channel 48, DTV WCIU-DT 26.3, or on cable on whatever channel Comcast, WOW, & RCN have MeToo on their lineup. Dish Network & DirecTV don't carry MeToo.
