The Future of "America's Most Wanted" Looks Bleak.

John Walsh of “America’s Most Wanted” fame was on CBS’s early morning program recently concerned that his show would be gone from the airwaves for good.

Walsh’s program caught over 1,000 fugitives and is highly praised by law enforcement agencies.

It’s hard to believe that one network out of the hundreds out there won’t pick up this show.

If truTV can make room on their schedule for reruns of Cops and World's Wildest Police Videos, surely it can find some more space for John Walsh and AMW.

Maybe he should try syndication.

Lifetime was just a poor fit.

It's not like Fox replaced it with good programming.

I had heard syndicators showed interest in the program, but I believe John Walsh was against the idea. When a show goes in 1st run syndication, it doesn't get shown at the same time in all markets, like it does when it's network run. If John Walsh really wants to see his show stay on the air, this may be his only option, as Fox cared more about ratings than providing a service to the nation. Even Lifetime cared more about ratings. I definitely don't see the other top 3 networks pick up the program, & I especially don't see CW & MNT picking it either. I haven't seen AMW since it went to pay TV.

Fox may be willing to make some amends for screwing the show over, and Walsh may see MyNet as an acceptable compromise between syndication and a network. Maybe Ion?

how many people actually take time to look at wanted posters, if they even exist anymore...america's most wanted does a Great Service to America, and it should Never be taken off the air.

It should go to NBC, but unfortunately it won't be seen there either. This is a public service and hopefully it will find a good home somewhere.

Here's an idea: what about PBS?

As long as it has underwriting instead of traditional commercials, it might work. There are more PBS stations, but any that pick up the program wouldn't show it at the same time. I couldn't see what could keep PBS from trying to carry AMW (if interested), since my local PBS station used to carry the Hoosier Lottery Show & the Indiana Lottery drawings at one time in the 90's (this would be WYIN Gary, IN)

I think it'd be a great fit on ION or MyNet.

Make it a 30 minute show and pair it with 'Cops Reloaded'. Air it on Saturdays.

Ratings would triple for either network in that slot.

I'd definitely tune in.

One problem - Not many people watch PBS

In fact, more people watch MyNetwork TV & are willing to watch ION than they do & are more apt to watch PBS. Just a fact of life....

Cheers & 73 ;D

Ditto with CW
