The Future of Atlanta's Low Rated FM's

Anyone have any ideas on what is to become of our FM stations that are nearing the bottom of the commode and when? I feel that 99X and Jams are on the way towards something else due to high power and low ratings. 99X is a great sounding station. Why is it not doing well? Is it getting a buzz-cut from its neighbor down the dial? I can't think of any other formats that we don't have already that would pull in any higher numbers than the stations that we have right now are pulling.

I don't know about 99X ... but Jams is doing exactly what it's supposted to IMHO ... nip a little at V103 and help ensure WSB-AM 750's overall #1 numbers.

So basically what you are saying is that they don't really care if anyone listens to Jams or not? They are simply just "using, and abusing" that frequency?????

Yes. It's called playing to block, not playing to win. 97.1 is a pawn. Just like when with Clear Channel was using 105.7 was when it was Mix 105.7 and basically duplicating Z93's classic rock playlist ... just to shave a little from Z for 96 Rock's sake.

All about MONEY, not the listener. What a crying shame.

WSB-AM may have overall, but V103 has #1 18-34 and #1 25-54. In terms of potential profit, V103 is the real winner.

It's always all about money... except at community/college stations, but there, it's all about the personal tastes and egos of the staffers, not the listener.

What's a listener?

Don't be so depressed. In general, the high rated stations with many listeners make far more money than "blockers" do.
