The Future of Charlotte radio

More creative would be something with 69 in it like those internet predators are fond of on "Dateline."
You may as well just go ahead and arrest everyone in America with a 69 in their username to save time.

John Sells and all;
I think TPTB (The Powers That be) at the college do not understand the value of a frequency and that it CAN be sold. WSGE has gone dark before (long ago) due to TPTB not knowing FCC regulations concerning updates to licenses and such, this was way before I did my volunteer 5-year stint there in the '80's, so maybe they just don't know they can sell it... and I'm not talking about the people involved in programming, instruction and on-air at the station.

Going back to the dream lists, here's mine.

88.9 Jazz
89.9 Classical
90.7 NPR/News/Talk
91.7 College Radio (as in alternative, punk, etc. like WXYC in Chapel Hill)
91.9 Contemporary Christian
92.7 Movin' format
94.1 Oldies
95.1 CHR/Pop
95.7 Active Rock (like back in the day)
96.1 CHR/Rhythmic
96.9 Country
97.3 Hot AC (with local talent and Charlotte bent)
97.9 Urban
99.7 Classic Rock
100.9 Black Gospel
101.9 Urban AC
102.3 Regional Mexican (with better signal in Charlotte)
102.9 AC
103.7 Country (with classic bent)
104.7 Classic Hits
105.3 Spanish AC/CHR
106.1 Smooth Jazz (move Standards to HD2)
106.5 Alternative (with wider playlist)
106.9 Contemporary Christian (straight music, no preaching)
107.1 Classic Country
107.9 Hot AC

610 ESPN Radio full time (+ select local games)
930 Religious (drop BBN, go Salem)
960 News/Talk (with stronger Charlotte presence)
1030 Spanish News/Talk
1060 Air America/Progressive Talk
1110 News/Talk
1220 News/Talk
1240 Religious
1310 Regional Mexican
1480 Radio Disney
1540 Black Gospel
1600 Black talk (revive signal)
1660 Sports (fully local)

And yeah, I know WRCM's been jockeying for 91.7's spot ever since they signed on.

Having choices like this would possibly keep me from jumping on the satellite radio band-wagon. ;D

JoshB said:
I/m a SIRIUS subscriber, and would like to allow 1 AM and 1 FM from anywhere in the country that streams their signal to be available on a channel, say SIRIUS personal 98! My changes in format are highlighted

FM
88.9 - Jazz (HD2 Jazz Cafe/70)
89.9 - Classical (HD2 Met Channel/85)
90.7 - NPR News/Talk...I would find some World Music, not BBC Radio1/11
91.7 - Contemporary Christian (HD2 Revolution/67)
91.9 - Contemporary Christian (HD2 Spirit/66)
92.7 - Urban (Russ Parr Morning Show) (HD2 Soultown/53)
94.1 - AAA/Variety/Jack (HD2 Hits 1/1)
95.1 - CHR Pop (HD2 Area 33)
95.7 - Smooth Jazz (HD2 Spa 73)
96.1 - Rhythmic CHR (HD2 HipHop Nation/40)
96.9 - Country (HD2 Outlaw/62)
97.9 - Urban (HD2 Backspin/43)...I would like it programmed with Go-Go from DC, House music from Chicago, and other regional music sub-generes
99.7 - Classic Rock (HD2 TheVault/16)
100.9 - Black Gospel (HD2 Praise/68)
101.9 - Urban Adult Contemporary (Steve Harvey Morning Show) (HD2 Heart&Soul/51)...I like the idea of NeoSoul
102.9 - Adult Contemporary (HD2 Chill/35)
103.7 - Country (HD2 Roadhouse/62)
104.7 - Hot AC (HD2 Strobe/37)
105.3 - FM Talk-simulcast of either WDYT or WZRH, local AM, Boortz live, Rush, Hannity, Savage, etc. (HD2 Fox News Talk/145)
106.1 - Adult Hits (HD2 Totally 70s/7)
106.5 - Modern Rock (HD2 1st Wave/22)
106.9 - Christian Rock (although I know this would probably never happen)
107.9 - FM Talk w/current lineup except Pam Stone goes to 12N-3P and Stephanie Miller from 9A-12N (HD2 combo Sirius Left 146 & Sirius Patriot 143...Alex Bennett, Andrew Wilkow, and Mike Church <at one time in this market for WBT>)
AM
610 - Sports (ESPN affiliate)
930 - Sports (FOX Sports affiliate)
1030 - Spanish Hits
1110 - Talk (Absolutely LOCAL, w/someone from 12-3 and Tara Servatius 9P-12A)
1240 - Christian Talk (use Salem's lineup+Dave Ramsey)
1310 - Urban Talk
1370 - Spanish News/Talk
1480 - Spanish Sports (ESPN Deportes affiliate)
1540 - Adult Standards
1660 - Talk (Progressive Talk, Bill Press, Sam Seder, Ed Schultz, Randi Rhodes, Rachel Maddow, Mike Malloy, all live)

My choices would actually include Satellite Radio

My local AM choice for SatRad would be WWL 870 AM (Bob and Monica, "Spud" show, Garland Robbinette, Sports Talk, Bob Show, and Big Chief Deke)
My FM choice for SatRad would be WKTU 103.5 Lake Success/NYC w/urban dance format
