The Future of Click 1015

How long do you guys think Main Line will keep it around? It's really not performing nowhere near as good as predicted and it sounds the exact same as when it launched. In fact, I think it sounded better with the former PD. I really think Main Line should take it Adult CHR and spend a little more time on it. Just like Z93 days, they put all their money into Hot.

Mainline should do what Q102 has done successfully in Cincinnati for years now. I just don't believe they have the resources to do it though. Live and Local throughout the day and early evening is not what they do. They like running things automated and voice tracked.

Main Line has SOME live and local talent. I don't think Fly is live. Hot has Ryan Drake live half of his shift, The Partyman is live. I believe that Faith Daniels is live for her shift on WROU and I believe they now are hiring for afternoons. Nights are jockless. Click is completely jockless. They definitely don't have the resources, but even if they kept Click jockless but made a music change, it would help them. Although, nothing sounds worse than a CHR voicetracked completely...

Seems odd that they haven't updated their playlist in what over a year? I am not sure why they would not at least change out some of the songs that have been over played. They must be happy with the revenue that Click adds to their cluster as a jockless station run on autopilot. Looking at their station roster Click is the only Modern AC they own.

I've noticed they've added some new recurrent and gold product but not nearly as much to keep it fresh. They do overkill A LOT of the songs they launched with. I like Click 989 out of Seattle much better. They lean a little more Hot AC which is what I think Click needs to do even more than what they started doing to compete with Mix and Channel. Right now they're competing with the women listeners of The X. They call themselves "Modern Hit Music" but has never played Macklemore & Ryan Lewis but yet The X does. Crazy... Brad Waldo is programming it from what I understand. Not a fan of Fly, I rather listen to Jack FM out of Columbus, explains my indifference towards Click I suppose lol

I'm surprised they didn't change U92 to Old School before Cox rolled out The Soul of Dayton on that 98.7 translator. Mainline seems to stick with a format once they change things. The only market they run somewhat different is Louisville in that they did not flip their heritage CHR station to Fly like they did in Dayton. They did flip a weak signaled FM to talk and then to soft rock gold format.

The Soul Of Dayton is not operated by Cox. The station is a translator owned by a private individual. Yes there is a business relationship between the two. But, by FCC law, Cox cannot "run" the programming of 98.7.

Gordon McLendon said it best: "He who has the signal has the ratings". Click has a crap signal that doesn't cover the market well. It doesn't matter what you put on there, they will only get typical rimshot ratings. That said, I do agree that they sound stale. Sounds like they've played virtually the same music over and over for the last year. Good luck with that.
