The Future of Energy 92.7 & 101.1 ?

Ive been reading the rumours of them doing a flip.

This isn\'t true is it??
Does anyone seriously know?

I really enjoy this station and would hate to see them go away.
I have been a faithful listener of them ever since I moved to arizona in june of 2004.

I know there phoenix signal is really weak, but if you really love this music, you will try like hell to pick it up.

Ive wondered why they no longer have other D.J.s maybe its to save money.
Pistol pete is great, I missed it when he was away and am glad he is back.

I get to hear more of him, since he\'s in the afternoons, great for the drive home.

and I enjoy all his sound bites and comedy.

I finally found where the \"They definetly have furry underwaer\" soundbite was from :) and had to download the movie.

if M.Mallace is reading this, Keep the station Dance, Please!!!!

What else could you possibly do with a signal like that?

about all you really could do would be to take the main signal 101.1 to country or oldies, being its up in payson.
and there\'s already enough of that.

if anything, Get a stronger translator for phoenix.
92.7 fm has a great location on south mountain, but 10 watts is not enough to penetrate a buildings structure.

thats why they are so much better in cars.

notice going thru the tunnel on I-10 in phoenix, you totally lose them, not enough penetration power.

and they only seem to come up with decent power on the I-17 section that runs south of downtown.

if it was my station Id fight for more power on 92.7 or move the main stick closer like where 95.1 latino vibe transmits from or something.

This station is worth saving.
But how can you compete or get any ratings if nobody can listen at work.

Ive tried like hell to pull it in at the warehouse at work and thats near I-10 and 51st avenue and its next to impossible.

also you need more advertising.
Some of my co-workers listen to \"Movin 97.5\" and they never even heard of 92.7 :(

and thats pretty bad if people who like rythmic music never even know, that a dance station exists.

anyway\'s thats my opinion.

anyone else have any ideas for them?

100% on point there, but i dont think that revenue will be put into that station for the mere fact that it is a mom & pop organization.

Deelove: Why is it, that \\\"Energy\\\" can not fund a transmitter move or upgrade, when stations like Kcdx 103.1 fm can stay on commercial free?

\\\"Energy\\\" sells commercial air-time as well as there sister station \\\"Mega\\\" they must have some money for upgrades.

And there Payson facilities are not weak, energies payson transmitter is putting out like 70,000 watts ERP.

and \\\"Mega\\\" is right up there as well.

it\\\'s just that there trying to serve Phoenix with a 10 watt translator \\\"Energy\\\" and a 18 watt translator \\\"Mega\\\"

And thats why they get no ratings, plus there lack of advertising doesn\\\'t help either.

being a Mom & Pop outfit is no excuse.

there are smaller stations in smaller markets that can make things work.

Hell, I could purchase a stronger translator on my lowly drivers pay.
Seriously, Ive seen transmitters advertised at some foreign sites and Id love to get my hands on one and fire it up.

But I think Id scare phoenix )

or probably just scare all my listeners away )

I run this really cheesy station on-line, Id love to throw that up on a 70,000 watt stick and watch everyone go mad )

I play everything, I make mistakes and have dead-air and my format is all over the road like a drunk driver.
and if you read the stations story and visit there Myspace page, you would swear, who be this crazy nut, that started this )
Right now it\\\'s playing 2 minutes of dead air.
I could remove that bad track, but I thought WHY! it adds character.

hehehehehehe

whats scarey, is if I remove all the rock and country and bad tracks and just leave the dance tracks, it would sound just like \\\"Energy\\\" even with the crazy soundbites )

imagine 45,000 songs on shuffle play of every genre )

I could very easily see "Energy" flipping formats. I think every listener to "energy" posts on this board--all 12 of them. I'll preface my comments by saying I'm not a fan of the format. "Energy" does not run the format particularly well either, I've listened and find it to be essentially KISSFM with beatmixing. Looking at the ratings, I can see why there are rumors of a format change. I haven't heard all the jocks, but Pistol Pete seems to always be on when I zoom past them on the dial. The format is too niche and combined with it's incredibly weak signal is a doomed ship.

Well the format has lasted for a long time, you have to get them that much. Look at all the changes in the market since June 2002 and that is when they signed on the air. Yep agree with all the struggles mentioned above but at least give them credit for keeping the format alive for the 12 listeners (really think there is more but the way ratings are done is so Old and not consistent but thats another topic for another day)

To be honest, I don't see how an area like Phoenix can really support a full-time dance station. It isn't really a dance/club town. Granted, it is supposed to be a "big city" , but it doesn't have the population diversity of a New York, Chicago, San Fran, Philly, etc. I am surprised the owners haven't pulled the plug a long time ago.
