The future of KLSX

Howard Stern was talking about the state of radio and mentioned that CBS was looking to change KLSX's format to some sort of music but the contract problems were slowing them down. I know that their ratings are pretty bad, but if this happened what would become of Adam Carolla and Tom Leykis, arguably the biggest personalities on the station? I think Adam could stay on with a music format but he would fit most with some sort of alternative station and Los Angeles has plenty of those already. Leykis has been in Los Angeles radio for a while so I wonder where he will go. I'm in Cincinnati and I listen to KLSX a lot, mostly just to Adam and Tom. I like the hot talk format but I know that it's an expensive format to run, especially nowadays. KLLI went sports the other day, and if KLSX goes too, then what will become of KCMD in Portland or WJFK in Washington?

Maybe they can slap Carolla on Jack-FM in morning drive. That kind of plan seemed to work on CBS' Jack station in Chicago, didn't it?

No, it didn't.

KLSX could have been a great station, but they suffer from the same problem as does KABC. The management over there does not know what Los Angeles wants. Sure Leykis is great and actually FFH are real good too, but everything else on the station sucks. Adam is horrible. Why on earth do they have that dreadful Tim Conway on the air. He was the least entertaining of any of his partners and yet management cannot seem to get rid of him. Just like KABC took 15 years to dump Larry Elder and still cannot dump Al Rantel. What these folks in programming seem to forget is that radio is an entertainment media and people want to be entertained. That is what Leykis does well, as does Howard Stern and Rush too. It is time for new talent.

Very true comments! (except FHF...they are boobs)

It seems like it's a high school clique over there and if you are Jack Silver's buddy, you get on the air. They don't even try to develop new talent. There is A LOT of crap on that station. Sam Phillips, Leo the film freak, John and Jeff....all wouldn't get gigs in a top 200 market if they sent their demos out. They once did a best of John and Jeff....really? BEST OF? Vitiman commercials are better.

Carolla does hold his own, and since he is the last of the Stern replacements standing, you gotta give him credit for that.

The only reason Carolla is still standing is for the same reason, Tim Conway, John and Jeff and Leo the film freak are still standing. KLSX cannot seem to get rid of bad radio people. Carolla is doing horrible in the ratings. KLSX is bleeding itself to death
