The future of Q102

Unless you guys are changing out the air staff, focusing your playlist, and doing promotions involving something other than purses...I really don't see much happening over there.
Hahaha....think what you wish but the numbers don't lie.

What numbers? You had a decent trend. Your station has been owned by the competition for the last 5 years and you get uppity over one trend? C'mon man, trends don't mean a thing! Come back in 6 months and tell me how your station is doing. G'night.

Nice intelligent response. You really hit the nail on the head with your smiley face...[

To address this... didn't Infinity at one time swear off Arbritron, stating that the numbers were always off and wrong? I guess the numbers do lie...but not now! Right Nick? Oh, that's right, Q has big things on the horizon. Right. What is next? Pick your Plastic? Grab your Gucci?

Come on man, we're all adults here right? We're better than a petty internet bashing. Cheers! ;D

My last post about Nick, critical but not obscene, was deleted for some reason. Let's give it another try. Nick is the Eddie Haskell of radio: "Geepers, Ms. Marshall, that's a t-rific job you are doing programming our station." "That Ted Morro is the gosh-almighty bestest jock I ever worked with." If he perceives you as his competition however, he will not hesitate to step on you on his sycophantic way. Take what he says with a grain of salt.

I take everything I read on the Internet with a grain of salt. Anyway, isn't this thread about Q's direction/future and not about personal opinions of those who post to the boards? I prefer to come to my own conclusions about individuals after dealing with them directly. I should add that there are a lot of folks in radio (and all businesses) that wouldn't hesitate to run the bus over their perceived competition. Sad, but true. That said, I have to wonder exactly what you, Nick, personally see as the right direction for your station? Specifics, not broad statements that "things are coming." I still believe that, even with the changes I've been hearing, there is a certain amount of confusion in the overall presentation. Ratings or not, the statement that Q has been owned by the competition rings true, although I haven't conducted any formal polls. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see Q do well. It's a long standing brand in the Cincinnati market.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Why thank you for the compliment! ;D I am here for friendly conversation. If you think bashing me or Q is going to bother me, you are sadly mistaken. And this is my last post addressing these childish posts. There are many other sites on the internet that you can go to and act like a child. I thought this was a site for professionals in radio. If this an amateur's forum let me know and I will find professional conversation somewhere else.

* I have worked with Nick in the past and I can vouch for him that he is a stand up guy. Just because you will never be successful dosen't mean you can trash talk other people. *And yes Nick, as you have read above. Some of us are adults and like to have pleasent conversation. You're giving me too much credit! My knowledge of the English language isn't that extensive. I don't even know what sycophantic means!

This thread seems to be degenerating into personal attacks on others. If you have a problem with Nick Scott and/or Steve Mann, take it elsewhere. If this board had moderators as it did at one time prior to the change, some of these posts would have been deleted, especially the last one. Aren't we supposed to be discussing radio, and in this thread, Q102, in particular. I believe the management of the Q has not had good direction for the past 8 years, it let Kiss come in and blow them out of the water. For a time, they seemed to be in a race with Mix to see who could have the worst sounding station in town. They seem to be sounding better lately; however, we need to wait and see if they can keep up what they are currently doing.

I agree 100%! Thank you for getting this thread back on topic. Can't we all just get a beer! Cheers! :D

I noticed their ratings are down to 2.9 in the last period.
I pulled this figure up from the Radio and Records website. In a later thread, someone mentioned that the share was 3.7. I revisited the website later, and it still said 2.9. Then, I visited again sometime later, and it said 3.7.I swear, I saw it! I know what I read, and it later changed.

It was told to me today that our last book was the best W25-54 book Q has had in the past 10 years. I think that says something doesn't it?

I agree, but this is nothing compared to the dcrtv website for the DC area. You want to see some immature, nasty fools, check out the mailbag at www.dcrtv.comI thought this board did have moderators. I placed a post about WINC 92.5 FM in the Washington, DC area and referred to the music as catering to lesbians, and someone removed my post.

But is that your demo? Who do you consider your competition? MIX? WARM? KISS?

Their station is clearly aimed at women and I guess they start small (W18-34) and see what else they can grab ( W18-49 and W25-54). It appears they have had some success in grabbing a wider female audience in the last year or so if they stand at #2 with W25-54.

W25-54.... I think Kiss is W18-24. Mix and Warm are W35-54.

So then who does Q consider thier competition? I'm going with MIX or WARM based on their current promotion and what I heard on air this weekend.

JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION....I WISH WE HAD A DEDICATED 80'S STATION. IF I DRIVE THROUGH COLUMBUS AND CLEVELAND THAT'S ALL I LISTEN TO. IT WAS SUCH A FUN ERA WITH A HUGE VARIETY OF MUSIC. A TIME WHEN EVERYBODY SOUNDED DIFFERENT. CINCINNATI IS CONSERVATIVE AND TENDS TO LIVE IN THE PAST. DOES ANYBODY THINK THIS WOULD GO OVER WELL? I LISTEN TO Q102 WHEN THEY HAVE THEIR 80'S WEEKENDS.I WORK FOR A SCHOOL THAT HAS AN 80'S INTERNET STATION WITH A LARGE DEMOGRAPHIC FROM 17-54MALE AND FEMALE. IT'S PRETTY POPULAR. OF COURSE WE NETCAST WORLDWIDE.I HATE TOO MUCH TALK IN THE MORNING. I NEED MUSIC TO GET ME GOING. SOMETHING UPBEAT.BUT I AGREE EVERY MORNING SHOW NEEDS THE MALE FIGURE TO BASH ON (HA HA).
What's your station's web addy? If you fear envoking the wrath those that must be obayed here on the "new and improved" board.. email me @ [email protected]ks!
