The Future of Terrestrial Radio?

This radio discussion stuff can be circular. Some bit or piece of data triggers diverse circular talking.

Last summer, while 5th wheel RV camping in the Black Hills, we listened to KXMZ 102.7, among others...
Univ. of S, Dakota, KBHE, NPR Rapid City for our Morning News. I usually search out National Public Radio while traveling the Midwest USA.

There are interesting types of FM & AM radio in western South Dakota. A little country redneck leaning but there were a few listenable music stations.

Good solid signal made classic rock, 100.3 KFXS, habit forming listening while driving like tourists all over the Black Hills.
Terrestrial Radio, Next...

Note the mention of KCDX in the comments.

And then there's KWSS-LP, which is probably the only AM/FM in this town to stay ahead of those shifting cultural currents. Anyone looking to read the proverbial tea leaves should look at KWSS-LP. Much like Speilberg's prediction about tiered movie ticket prices, so, too, will de facto formats (as we know them today) be obsolete.

I thnk thy already are. Country stations play southern rock. The concept of Lite Rock is going away. Smooth Jazz is gone. It's all about music mixes that attract the right demo. Not so much traditional formats.
