THE GAME

htownkj: you separated the men from the boys, the insiders from the outsiders and the players from the pretenders. Here's a post I made on 11/30/07:

First off, 1560 is locked in for the long haul. They're not flipping or selling anytime in the next 12 months. Their advertiser base is growing slightly. I've heard a few new spots over the last few weeks, but I agree it's very weak with only 1 solid program and no local major sports teams on its roster. Let me remind you of the BizRadio model: take enough investor money to run the station commercial free for 3 years then let the chips fall where they may. They have done that very well. The investors are screwed, but they have (had) 3 year staying power. David Gow is a lot smarter than BizRadio's Dan Frishberg from what I know and if Frishberg can con investors out of enough cash to stay on the air this long I'm sure Gow can do a much better job, maybe even find a way for the investors to not lose much or lose at all.

It was from this thread: http://www.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,86536.0.html

Like I predicted then and now, 1560 is in it for the long haul and the only thing that can stop them is their night time signal woes and the their lack of a major sports franchise play-by-play contract. Both of those issues can and should be solved within 3-5 years and that's probably how long Gow has given it.
