Sorry for the repeat if there was an earlier post regarding this, but I don't recall seeing one. Jerry Blavat, "The Geator With The Heater", is back on Philly radio. He will have a weekly show on WXPN 88.5, saturdays from 6-7 PM.

Sounds like they are reviving the Classic Urban R&B show that was formerly hosted by Charlie Horner.

More Irony

Remember the excitement and unique sound of WPGR? In it's heyday, WPGR was unparalleled with the likes of non-commercial, fund-driven stations such as WXPN.

Now, the progressive sound of WXPN, which is the complete opposite of the bombastic, former WPGR is the only game in town for real oldies, unless of course you consider Sunday nights on WOGL, which some have said probably won't last much longer.

The Geator begging for money on WXPN? Who would have ever thought? It will be interesting to see what he does for an hour a week...

Real Rock N' Roll?
Doo Wop?
Standards?

It will be interesting to see if he can really pull in the dough in 2006. It was a consensus among some individuals that while he was on WPEN recently, the only time these individuals didn't listen to the station was during his show.

Some have said he has lost his lustre, and eight versions of the same song followed seven records in a row by Timi Yuro weren't what people had in mind when they thought, "Wow! Real Oldies!"
