wonder why the genius is still there? friend sent this to me today, i never laughed harder. had to share. tell him to wipe his face.

This is the best day we’ve had in a long time here at Entercom-Memphis! Let’s raise a glass in the coming days.

I love Steve Conley and Karen Perrin. I also love the great news that arrives in the days to come for old friends.

I’m on board.

Brad Carson

Assistant Program Director

Classic Hits 94.1, KQK

Even if I were terrified of the door hitting me in the backside on the way out, I'd find it difficult to adjust to that level of job worship, but hey.

I'm curious though: why the general disdain for this guy? I don't know anything about him aside from seeing the occasional poke on this board.

Someone chose him for a drive-by character assassination on the Memphis boards a couple of format changes ago.

I met Brad and came away with the assessment that he is a good guy. I admire his ability to keep a balance through some choppy waters and still come out finding the positive side of the situation.

I'm not as cynical about these things as buzz and some others...but that memo is certainly a whole new level of azz-kizzin'.
Although I bow to Rob's radio lineage and character, Brad basically brought his "character assassination" on himself. He hit this board both as himself and as an alter-ego (who was a huge Brad Carson fan and knew WAAAAY too much about him) and was in everyone's face about first Buzz and then Snap. When named "Director of Rhythym", he really hit the board with brags and claims about what the station was going to do in the ratings VS> anything else any of the mere mortals were doing at any other station.
He ranted about how great Brad Carson was and how he was better than anyone who'd ever done radio in Memphis. HE went on (in particular) about Brad's "numbers" in Jersey or somewhere before the Lord landed him in Memphis, and etc.
He posted so often and with more outrageous claims and brags each time, that when people started to put it back in his face, he responded with even more ridiculous claims. The tide was irreversably turned against him, never to be turned back.
I cannot recall at this moment the alter-ego's name...if I could, maybe you could look up old posts and see what I was talking about. There was no one other than Brad that the poster could have been.

With all respect to Rob...what Brad got; he asked for.

Either that, or word got out that he had "cooties."
;D

ARGH!!!!!

He said "the name that shall not be mentioned"!

Locusts, plagues, floods, famine are looming!

The seal has been broken on the curse!!!

What did he say?!?! 'cooties'

But --- I do remember all the bum-smooching that 'Voldemort' did back in the day - so I kinda have to say he does deserve what he's getting. If he'd just come clean and fess up - it would have been much easier.

I also believe that folks on this board are puzzled why a guy who has yet to prevail over anything successful at 94.1 still has a job.

Maybe he has pictures of Bill Pasha with a duck.

Now that WKQK-FM has provided a website, I did a little 'poking' around.

It seems that the all-hailed "programming genius" has the coveted 12p-6a shift.

Is that a promotion???

It's all VT'd of course - heck you open the mic what 3-4 times an hour overnights, so that's ... what at most 24 little lines he has to record for a 6 hour shift.

But it gets him a spot on the website - and that's all a person should want.

::)

Hey, I applaud 'KQK* for going to the effort. Many (most?) stations now just run jockless. At least, that's something.

DE

*I must say, I don't get the callsign choice. Of all the calls they could pick, why WKQK?

I stopped asking the question when KJMS is V101.

And WMFS is 93X...

Excellent points, all. But, in the case of 'KQK*, they did not inherit the calls. They picked 'em out of the clear, blue sky. Why?

DE

*I am sooo glad I am not on the air there right now. I have so much stainless steel in my mouth right now, I can't properly make hard "k" sounds. It would be a disaster. But, I digress.

Hmmm....emoticon for an excited naked guy throwing up the horns with both hands?

pg 57, "After cleaning the lens, the laser should assimilate disc data with fewer read errors." (From the Pioneer manual, chapter 7, verse 14.) Just thought another esoteric comment couldn't hurt.
